The Leopard Tale
April 2021
Principal's Points
Welcome Back, Leopards! This month has been a busy one at Andre’. We had a great turn-out for our Mad Science Week, with all kinds of storms blowing in, from tornadoes to avalanches. Space day brought us all kinds of planets, and even a few Martians! Students were even spotted working on science-inspired art projects during art class. Thank you to all parents who assisted students in logging on to our Mad Science Program. Your Title One dollars funded this amazing program, and our kiddos voted to have the Mad Scientist return next year. This month, kindergartners are anxiously awaiting their book character parade, and students participating in Horizons are working hard to prepare for the GT Showcase. We also have three groups of students participating in the Superintendent’s Fun Run on May 1st. Tickets to the virtual event are available online through Schoolcash. Last year our attendance was recognized for 2nd place for all elementary schools, district wide. Please join me this year in participating to support our running club, Leopard Steppers, and Twisting Twirlers, all in an effort to raise funds for our future CFISD scholars. What a great cause!
Kindness Counts
Mission of Yahweh Supply Drive
We are excited to be serving women and children who reside at the Mission of Yahweh, a homeless shelter for women and children in the Houston area. This will be our 3rd annual collection for this amazing organization. Many of you will remember we collected cases of water last year and ended up delivering 146 cases to the Mission.
This year the coordinator of community donations provided a list of several items that they need. Please see the flyer attached to this newsletter for the items needed by grade level. We will begin collecting items on Tuesday, April 13th and finishing collections on Friday, April 23.
Our Student Council representatives and Jr. Counselors will be working together to organize and collect items daily. They will also read morning announcements to encourage and provide updates on our progress.
Thank you so much for your generous support of this worthwhile effort.
Important Information
Remote Learning Day/Teacher Planning Day
This is a reminder that Monday, April 12th, the District has implemented a teacher planning day/at-home learning day for students. All students will have an at-home independent learning day. On Friday, April 9th, all face-to-face students will come home with breakfast and lunch along with a learning packet for this day. Teachers will not be available to assist with work on this day.
Stay Connected
We want to stay connected with you! Please visit our website at www.cfisd.net, select schools and facilities, elementary schools, and then Andre’. This will take you to our website. We will also regularly post photos and news on the Official Andre’ Facebook page. To locate our page, search @CFISDAndre. Make sure you follow us on Twitter, @CFISDAndre, as well.
Lost and Found
Have you been searching the house for your child’s missing jacket or lunch kit?
We have quite a collection of found items that we have on display in the cafeteria. Students will have an opportunity each day during lunch to look through the items to reclaim things that belong to them. Weather changes daily, and jackets will be needed.
Please remind your child to look for missing items. Thank you for your support.
Superintendent's Fun Run
RUN TOGETHER FROM WHEREVER
Although the start and finish lines of this year's Superintendent's Fun Run won't be in the Berry Center parking lot, we can still run together from wherever.
We look forward to seeing you in fun run t-shirts running or walking wherever! Virtual participants will receive photo trims to highlight run photos on social media with #CFISDfunrun on May 1, 2021.
VIRTUAL EVENT INFORMATION
The eighth annual CFISD Superintendent’s Fun Run is set for May 1, 2021.
The virtual event is underwritten by Memorial Hermann Cypress.
Proceeds from the Superintendent’s Fun Run benefit the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF), which awards student scholarships and staff development grants.
