Listed below are a variety of Ipad applications, web tools, software resources and hardware resources that any teacher can use in his/her classroom to support students with special needs.  Be sure to click on the tutorial videos for more information.
Popplet Preview - Web Beta and iPad

Popplet is a graphic organizer application that allows students to arrange their ideas in a logical format that makes sense to them.  It also allows students to represent their ideas on the graphic organizer in pictures and images.  This appeals to students who have difficulty communicating their understanding of a topic (language impaired) as well as students who have writing difficulties, as they are able to represent their ideas using images.

Kinderboard is a colour coordinated keyboard with big keys and large letters.  It is a great substitute for the traditional keyboard as it is easier to see the letters and operate for students with vision or motor skill impairment.

Interactive E-books

Bookflix, Pebble Go and Raz Kids are interactive e-books for students with reading difficulties.  All three programs offer a variety of books (some levelled) for students to listen to for modelled fluency and sight word recognition.  Some of the e-books include comprehension questions to monitor understanding, an incentive program to continue reading, and a teacher monitoring program that allows educators to check for participation, successes and areas of needed improvement.
