SMM PARENT NEWSLETTER
July 5, 2020
We are updating our SMM prayer list. There have been may people/families who were or are still in need of our prayers. Since we have not been in close communication with all SMM families, we are asking that you email Gay with any prayer requests so that she may revise the list to reflect your current requests.
For all service men and women; first responders; police; firefighters; health care workers; and everyone who is keeping us safe, protected, and fed during the COVID 19 crisis.
For all those sick and suffering from the Coronavirus, may they recover quickly and completely.
And, God Bless America!

A FOND FAREWELL AND A WARM WELCOME TO MIDDLE-SCHOOL TEACHERS
We welcome our two new Middle-School teachers and are looking forward to a wonderful school year.
Mrs. Jenee Landry, Middle-School Math Teacher
Jenee received a Bachelor of Science in Education from LSU in Baton Rouge in 1995 with a certification in first through 8th grades. In addition, she received a Library Certification from Southeastern University in 2005 and has completed 12 hours towards her Masters Degree in Educational Technology.
MS. TAMMY BAUER, MIDDLE-SCHOOL ELA/READING
Here is what Tammy has to say about joining the SMM staff:
"As an alumna and the former receptionist, it is my pleasure to join the SMM team again. I spent the last two years teaching ELA at Slidell Junior High to both Regular Ed and Special Ed students. Much of my life has been spent working with kids and I have been blessed with many strong qualities such as patience, creativity, clear communication, and determination. I am looking forward to my new adventure at SMM where I will be able to share these skills with the students and assure that they not only achieve their goals but surpass them."

Inquiring Minds Want To Know (about the 2019/2020 yearbook)
Our yearbook sales are lagging behind last year's sales, so Jostens has agreed to extend the purchase deadline until July 31. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer personalization any longer.
Even though our yearbook may look a little different from previous years, it will still be full of wonderful pictures of your children.
We ask that you please order your year- book online as soon as possible. Jostens offers a payment plan at checkout for your purchase if you would like to use that option

I WANT TO GO TO MASS
You do NOT need a reservation to attend a weekday Mass at 8:30 am or 6:30 pm.
We now have ample room for up to 150 people to start returning to Mass at weekend Masses (Saturday 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm (Spanish); Sunday 8:30 am, 10:15 am, 12 noon), but you should make a reservation if you want to attend one of the WEEKEND Masses.
Call the I WANT TO GO TO MASS hotline 985-201-5504 on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. Reservations are strongly recommended. If you come to a weekend Mass without a reservation, please see the call-in list and add your name where you see blank spaces up to 150. Remember that a mask is required at any Mass you attend.
While we have returned to the weekend Masses scheduled, we do understand that some may not be ready to return to Mass in church. The dispensation of the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still in effect. The Archbishop also recommends the elderly and those with health conditions to also consider staying home as a wise decision until things get better.
Father Ed and Father Jared live-stream weekend Masses on the SMM Church Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/StMargaretMaryChurch/
If anyone does not feel comfortable attending Mass and might yet desire to receive Holy Communion at the end of one of the Sunday Masses, please let the usher at the main door of church know you are waiting, and he will contact the deacon or priest to bring you Holy Communion at the door.
