Draft Day 2019
Emerging Tech Students Complete Staff Projects
An assignment the Emerging Technology students undertook this quarter was to be assigned a high school staff member or a district administrator and complete a wood working CNC project as one of their assignments. Staff members were asked to treat their assigned student as if they were business owners, operating their own business and the staff member was a customer. Staff members were given ideas and suggestions, but basically they could ask for anything as long as wood was involved in creating their project. Below you will see a few of the staff members with their project and if you click the link below and go to the X-Carve section and select staff projects you will see all the completed projects.
Mrs. Maluchnik & Trance VanLiere
Trance created a 30X30 holiday sign for Mrs. Maluchnik with CNC sign work as well as Christmas trees cut out and glued to the sign to give it a three dimensional effect.
Taylor Mazuchowski & Mrs. Szepiela
Taylor created a nativity scene for Mrs. Szepiela with a LED light as the star of Bethlehem and a LED light set behind the manger.
Mr. Patterson & Nick Weaver
Nick Weaver created a 4 foot version of Comet Stadium with a resin inlay for Coach Patterson. The surface was finished off with a cast resin pour.

Reserve Wrestlers Gain Experience at Clyde
Fourteen wrestlers competed for the Maroon and Grey at the Clyde JV Invitational Saturday December 15th. Sophomore, Quinton Banks, was the Comet’s highest place finisher in fourth place. Junior, Sam Beach, took 5th while Colin Brazelton, Darin Muir and Derrick Gilbert finished in 6th. Genoa will be in action on Thursday under the lights during our school’s first ever in school assembly dual against Findlay at 1:15. Go Comets!
Wrestlers Shine in Holiday Assembly Dual
Eleven Comet wrestlers notched victories in front of more than 750 students in Genoa's Impact Zone on Thursday afternoon in the school's first Assembly Dual Meet. Genoa clashed with Division I Power Findlay High School showcasing the school's new matlamp. Spotlight introductions echoed throughout the gym by "The Voice of the Comets" Keith Traver. The Comets flexed as Oscar Sanchez, Devin D'Emilio, Julian Sanchez, Dylan D'Emilio, Dustin Morgillo, James Limongi, Sam Beach, Antonio Quezada, Brian Martin and Noah Koch all notched bonus point victories in front of a packed home crowd. Comet reserve wrestlers followed suit as Quinton Banks, Tommy Giles, and Colin Brazelton each won their matches. The frenzy included the wrestlers chosen walk out music by DJ Doug Asher. Comet Crazies were assisted by Cheerleaders, smoke machines and 2,000 student body Glowsticks. Congratulations to the middle school team winning 36-30 to top off the afternoon! Thank you to the many people who made the event possible for our kids!

I'd like to wish everyone of our GHS families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year which brings happiness and prosperity to all!
While we're all definitely ready for a little break I can honestly say I'll be excited to get back to school. Please keep in mind when we return to school on January 2nd we still have more than two full weeks until the end of the 2nd grading period. This will be an extremely important time for students as it pertains to earning semester credit. If your student is in need of some catching up or additional help please have the necessary conversations with your student(s) as well as his/her teachers. Together we can create plans to ensure success for ALL students!
As always,
Go Comets!
