DAVIS PRIMARY NEWS

Davis Picture Day!

Picture day has been scheduled for Monday, October 19th! We are very excited to be able to provide picture day but it will look different this year. In order to be safe and provide social distancing, the photographer will be set up in a tent outside of Davis. It will be located behind the school. Children will simply line up in the gym, quickly go outside for their picture, and return to the gym. All ordering will be done online through the photography company, Inter-State Studio. We will not be handling any orders. You can order your pictures online from now until Oct 21st. Pictures will be sent home with students.

Remote students will have the opportunity to get their picture taken. Remote students will choose a time in Sign Up Genius to come to Davis between 2:00-4:00. Parents can park along Horne St and walk their child to the back of the school where the photographer is located. We will have a pick up day for remote student pictures.

Parents of remote students can sign up HERE for a time slot.

You can prepay for photos HERE use this code 51759SA

Since the photographer is outside we will be subject to weather conditions. Parents will be notified if photos are cancelled and we will reschedule promptly.

Morning Meeting

The social emotional well being of all of our students is a priority and classroom teachers have happily begun morning meeting with their students when they arrive at Davis. Teachers use their first 20 minutes of class time to check in with their students, develop their social-emotional skills, and prepare them for the learning ahead. There are four key components:

  • Greeting: Students and teachers greet and welcome each other.

  • Sharing: Students share something about themselves or their lives, and the rest of their peers listen, then ask follow-up questions or offer comments.

  • Activity: The group completes an activity that encourages teamwork while re-emphasizing social or academic skills.

  • Morning message: Students read a short message from their teacher, usually describing what is to come in the day ahead.

Dismissal Reminders

  • If you are waiting for older siblings to arrive on the shuttle from Richmond, please arrive at 1:50. Davis students or our “waiters” are supervised in the community room until you come to take them home with their siblings. The shuttle is usually the last bus to arrive.

  • Please do not park in the drop off / pick up lane. We would like to keep the traffic flowing and not cause back ups, especially during inclement weather. If you want to use the pick up lane a supervisor will escort your student to your car.

  • When leaving with your student please do not U Turn on 7th street.

Thank you!
