The Journey Begins!
Dear Cougar Family,
Adventure awaits, Amazing Educators! On Monday, we will start a new journey for CSHS, one in which we are larger in number than we have ever been. Every single Cougar who arrives in our building on Monday will determine their outlook on the school year based on the first impression that we, the adults on campus, make on them. I urge you to take a moment to think about the journey we began through our staff development this year. From Brookwood to the levels of infractions and social contract to instructional goal setting and culturally relevant teaching, each aspect of our August PD was geared toward reflectively preparing for the school year. Think about the Circumplex Model and lead with building relationships as we teach our students our behavioral expectations. Challenge yourself to ensure every student who walks into your room is greeted with a bright smile and caring hand shake. Empower students by letting them see themselves and have voice in your classroom community. Make our school a place of "and."
We have a tremendous opportunity before us to impact the lives of students (and one another) as we embark into 2017-18 school year! I can't wait to see what awaits in the next leg of the journey.
"It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
--Ernest Hemingway
Welcome back! And, as always, COUGAR PRIDE!

First Day of School Logistics
Please be reminded that all students are to be directed to the cafeteria, 1st floor commons/halls, 2nd floor seating area before school each day. We will ring the first bell at 8:15 AM releasing the students into the entire building. First period will begin at 8:25 AM. (A warning bell will sound at 8:24 AM.)
On the first day of school…before 8:25 AM:
- ALL Students must secure an updated schedule (yellow paper) from the auxiliary gym.
- Students who have not paid for an ID are to report to the attendance window. Some new students will have a CSHS lanyard with a paper ID tag until their permanent ID comes in.
- 9th grade students who have paid for an ID will go to the table outside of the LGI.
- Students who need to complete the registration process should report to the counselor’s office.
- Staff IDs will be placed in your box on Monday morning.
Please handle tardies with discretion the first two days of school. In other words, allow for students to be late as they find their way around the building. As with dress and IDs, we will begin official enforcement of tardies on Wednesday.
Please remind students that in addition to the main stairwell in the commons (stairwells 3 and 4) stairwells 1 and 2 are open for use.. Stairwell 1 is located on the west end of the building at the end of the SPED (1st floor), FL (2nd floor), and SS (3rd floor) departments. Stairwell 2 is located on the east end of the building at the end of the office (1st floor), ELA (2nd floor), and math (3rd floor.)
You may dress professionally or wear a staff polo with slacks for the first day of school.
Counselor's Corner: Schedule Changes
Please only send kids to the counselor’s office if they have a hole in their schedule, are in a class they have already passed, or are double-scheduled for a specific subject or class period.
