Fourth Grade News
Dear Families,
Fourth Graders Built "Redwall" Abbeys!
Students cut out and colored castle and gate shapes. Then, the students used visualization, characterization, and descriptions to draw pictures of their favorite characters from the novel. We have sweet mice, warrior mice, spiny hedgehogs, fierce badgers, cruel rats, and more!
We will continue to read and discuss the novel throughout next week.
LAST DAY TO PARTICIPATE IN PAJAMA DRIVE: Thurs., Dec. 17!
This is a fun and easy way to give back this holiday season, and students may also earn CMP volunteer credits by participating. Three pairs of pajamas is equal to one CMP volunteer hour.
Additionally, students who participate will be entered into our class Winter Raffle. For every item donated, students will receive one ticket with their name on it. On December 17, I will draw one name from the box, and that student will win our grand winter prize! There is no limit on the number of tickets a student may have in the box!
If you want to participate, but don't have time to go pajama shopping, you may send a cash donation with your student, and I will purchase and donate pajamas on their behalf. They will also get their name in the raffle box for every pajama set donated through this method. One pajama set costs $5, so they may bring enough for however many pajamas they wish to donate. Even one makes a difference!
The last day to donate pajamas to the event is Thursday, December 17, Thank you in advance for your participation!
Last Day to Participate in Family Haven Gloves and Socks Drive: Tues., Dec. 17!
We are collecting socks and gloves to donate. Students may bring socks and/or gloves directly to the front office, or they may bring them to their homeroom teachers.
As with the pajama drive, students will receive raffle tickets for participating in this charity drive. Students will receive one ticket per five items donated. Currently, winter socks and gloves are available at Target for $1 in the One Spot dollar section.
Again, if you want to participate, but don't have time to go shopping, students may bring a cash donation and I will purchase and donate the items on their behalf. Socks and/or glove pairs cost $1, so students should bring the correct amount for however many they wish to donate.
The last day to donate to this event is Tuesday, December 15.
Winter Activities for Fourth and Fifth Grade (IMPORTANT!!!)
Students will go to their regular classes, but their teachers have fun wintry activities planned for them! They will do snowy science experiments, marvelous math art, a Frosty Photo activity, a gingerbread thermometer, and more!
Parents, if you would like to visit your child on this day, you are welcome to visit them when they have my class period. You may pop in to say hello, or you may stay for all or as much of the class period as you like. If you aren't sure what time your child has my class, and you would like to visit, please E-mail me!
The lower elementary classes (K-3) are also in need of parent volunteers, so please contact Ms. Fichter (afichter@fultonscienceacademy.org) if you are interested in volunteering for them. You do not need to have a student in K-3 in order to volunteer.
We need volunteers for TIME AND FOR MATERIALS. Please use these links to sign up:
Volunteers- http://vols.pt/xWyxBA
Materials- If you can’t volunteer your time, please donate materials here: Winter Celebration Materials Sign-Up
Lower elementary is also in need of water bottles for the event. If you have any empty water bottles at home, please drop them in the boxes outside of Ms. Fichter's classroom (E3), so that they may use them for the event.
If you have any questions about the winter activities or about visiting your student during my class period, please let me know!
December AR Reading Log Packets are due WEDNESDAY!
As always, you may find copies of the reading log packet available on FSA Connect.
State Tax Credit Application Deadline December 15!
Please be reminded that the State Tax Credit Scholarship Program deadline is fast approaching!
Please be informed that even if you make a joint application for $2,500, most likely half of it will be approved. Last year 60% of it was approved, since this program is very popular and they had more applications than the state’s limit. Each year they divide the amounts to give a chance to everyone who applied before the deadline. You don’t need to pay anything at this time; you will be able to pay the approved amount as late as the end of March.
You will receive an approval letter and be informed of your approved amount near the end of January. This is a great program because you receive a tax credit on your state income taxes and a charitable deduction on your federal income taxes for the amount you donate; therefore, you don't lose anything!
This is a wonderful opportunity for our families to come together and support our school.
Please complete your application by December 15! You may apply here:http://www.apogeebase.com/donate.
Please Help Us Achieve Our Goal of 100% Participation!
Please know that you may donate ANY amount, even $1-5! Our goal is for everyone to participate, so please contribute whatever amount you are able.
You can find details and the donation link here: Please find the details here:http://fultonscienceacademy.org/giving-back/
Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
