Big Changes to ACT Starting September 2020
1. ACT will super score.
2. Students may retake a section(s) of the test to improve their score.
3. Faster results when the test is taken online without the written portion.
4. Students receiving free/reduced lunch will now get four waivers.

Current Announcements
NHS: All new members of NHS must attend a meeting before or after school in Mrs. Cole's room on Wednesday, October 30, or Friday, November 1.
Senior Meeting: The senior meeting has been rescheduled to Friday, November 1. It will take place at 9 a.m. in the cafeteria.
FAFSA Assistance: Sign up for FAFSA assistance on October 25th, November 1st, November 22nd, and December 13th. Sign up here - https://forms.gle/zmsRu1YfPvYW998h7. Bring your 2018 tax returns. Go to fafsa.org and create a FAFSA ID prior to your appointment.
FAFSA assistance will be available for senior parents and students this Friday from 8:30-12:00 in the library with Ms. Hunt. Bring your 2018 tax returns. The next time this will be offered is November 22.
Cheer Regionals: Our competition cheerleaders will compete in Regionals this Saturday at Sparkman High School. JV will compete at 1:50, and varsity will take the floor at 5:23 p.m. We hope the Trojan Nation will support these girls on Saturday!
Remind Group for Seniors: Mrs. Jagielski's original group for senior girls on Remind is full. If anyone else wants to get her texts for seniors, text @d447998 to 81010 to join the 2nd Class of 2020 Females.
HGHS Working College & Career Fair: The HGHS College & Career Fair will take place next Tuesday, November 5, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thirty-five organizations, including universities, community colleges, trade schools, and employers, will be on campus to meet with students. Seniors will apply to at least one organization. Free transcripts will be provided. Laptops will be available for students to use to apply. Eleven of these organizations will waive their application fee for seniors who apply at the event. We are looking forward to seeing where our seniors apply!
Mock Election & Voter Registration Drive: The Mock Election and Voter Registration Drive is November 5th at HGHS.

Tennis Tryouts: Tennis tryouts for boys will be November 6th and November 7th for girls. Tryouts begin at the HGHS courts at 4:00 both days. A complete physical will need to be brought to tryouts by each participant.

Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.
