Community Conversations with Dr. Eran Magen
Navigating Emotionally Intense Conversations With Your Child
Tuesday, March 23rd
7:30-8:30
Presented by Dr. Eran Magen
Moderated by Mrs. Pedersen, Pine Run and Mr. Cochran, Bridge Valley Elementary
The Pine Run and Bridge Valley School Communities are proud to present an evening of conversation around that which is most important to us all, our children's social and emotional wellness. Understanding our children's emotions and navigating how we can best support and empower them can be difficult. Dr. Magen is here to offer his expertise and advice for creating and maintaining strong healthy relationships with our children.
Trying to offer support when your child is experiencing strong emotions like stress, frustration, anxiety or anger can feel like tiptoeing through a minefield. In this interactive workshop, Dr. Magen will share parenting techniques to help you be more effective and more relaxed when supporting your child. Dr. Magen will review practical techniques for helping your child feel heard and cared for, so your child can feel better and think more clearly - all while strengthening your relationship.
Eran Magen, PhD, teaches parents, educators, and clinicians how to form stronger, more supportive relationships in their personal and professional lives. Dr. Magen received his M.A. in education and Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University, and served as the research director for the department of Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Pennsylvania. For more information and parent resources, visit http://ParentingForHumans.com.
This conversation will be virtual. There will be time to ask questions. A link to join this event will come in the days prior to the event. Please mark you calendar for Tuesday, March 23rd 7:30-8:30.
We look forward to seeing you then.

Read Across America, March 1-31: A Month-Long Celebration
Reading Takes Us Places
Throughout the month of March, Pine Run will celebrate the places traveled in books, read by our students and staff. Using a world map, we will track our reading as a school community, on the bulletin board outside of our gym.
It is easy to get on board. Send a picture of your book (feel free to include yourself in the picture) along with the setting of the book to jpollina@cbsd.org using the subject line B.B. Book, in your email. Your picture will be tagged to the location on the bulletin board map. Let’s see where our school community travels in their reading during the month of March.
You can submit as a class – a novel from your read aloud,
You can submit as a group – a literature circle novel,
You can submit as an individual – a book you are reading for inquiry or pleasure.
Submissions can be made throughout the month.
Where will reading take you?
Don't forget to dress like your favorite book character on Tuesday, March 2nd!
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Hero Squad Program
Thank you Pine Run Families!
I am so proud of our Owls for their commitment to ending childhood cancer. Our grand total raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was $5,043.00, that is an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations to Mr. Zweig's fourth grade class on being our top fundraising class, bringing in $710.00 and to Samantha B in Miss. Parzanese's class for being our top individual fundraiser, bringing in $673.00. We are so happy to support this wonderful organization in finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Sparks: Article #4
One of the first steps to selecting a career is to become aware of the many options available. In Central Bucks schools, our students begin that process through the Career Readiness related curriculum in elementary buildings (QUEST, Economics Project in Social Studies) and secondary buildings (Success Plan, Information Technology classes).
Here are two videos which might inspire that search for just the right career. Watch them with your children and listen to what they say about what they see in their future.

What to know about streaming at Pine Run
There seems to be some confusion about when and how students stream instruction when they are unable to attend school in-person. I want to help, if I can, to clarify the expectation.
- Streaming is for prolonged illness and COVID related absences. This could include:
- Waiting for test results
- Close contact
- Positive case
- Required quarantine
- It is not for while the child is ON vacation
- It is not for a one or two day “cold” absence
- It may not start on day 1 of your child's time at home
Many teachers will need to take that first day to prepare materials and links for your child, while some may already be streaming. Please be patient with your child's teacher and front office as we navigate the many unique circumstances we are faced with each day with each new situation.
Thank you
We are very excited to announce that our Spring 2021 iRun4Life running program is available through our free iRun4Life App. Now, more than ever, it is important to motivate your kids to be healthy, and offer them fun and engaging exercise options they can do safely at home. To join our Spring Running Program, all you need to do is download the free iRun4Life App in the Apple or Android store – just search for “iRun4Life.”
Our weekly iRun4Life running program is available in the “Running & Fitness” link. Similar to our in person after school running program, there are weekly warm up exercises, running schedules, and cool down exercises that are updated each month. After running, your kids can click on the red link to log their miles and good deeds – just like the kids did last year. And they can still run with their friends in a safe environment. The only difference is that the children will be running in their neighborhood, or in a local park rather than at school. Another exciting feature of this year’s running program are yoga and dance videos.
Another feature of our running program is Healthy Nutrition. This is also available in our App through the Healthy Recipe link, where you will find family friendly healthy Snack, Meals, and Dessert recipes that our easy to make with your kids.
This year has been extremely challenging, and many of our kids’ physical and mental well-being have suffered. Our iRun4Life app will ensure your kids are healthy, and allow them to grow with our running program, as so many other kids have in years past.
