Campus Connections

Message from Jeff and Yolanda
We know that many faculty, staff and students, along with their families have suffered property damage and displacement, making it difficult to conduct business as usual. We understand that many of you as well as our students will have significant challenges in returning to life as normal as all of you continue to address the damage caused by Hurricane Irma. As we write this message we are aware that many of you are still without power which impedes your normal daily routines. For staff know that CCPS offers to you, at not cost, the Employee Assistance Program should you need counseling to help you manage during this time. For students, we will have our counselors and advisers scheduled into all the LWTC classrooms and 9th and 10th grade English classes to give them opportunity to share their experiences, identify basic needs and ensure appropriate interventions.
During your time away, a full assessment of our campus was conducted and repairs continue to be made. Building leaks have been repaired, ceiling tiles replaced, fallen trees and debris removed, gutters cleaned and the campus has been pressured washed. The District has also ordered an indoor air quality assessment of all buildings. Upon your return please do an inspection of your classroom and complete a work-order for any damage or technology issues. If you notice any missing items, please notify Jeff or Yolanda.
We look forward to seeing all instructional staff on Friday, 9/22 and non-instructional staff on Monday and students on Monday, 9/25. We will kick off Friday with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in Mustang Alley followed by a combined faculty meeting in the dining room. If you are unable to return to work on your scheduled day please submit the absence in AESOP with no substitute required for non-student days.
