Greater Zephyrs Open

ST. MARY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS' ANNUAL BOOSTER CLUB FUNDRAISER
A day of golf, fun and camaraderie powered by SMCS parents and students
The Greater Zephyrs Open annually hosts 120-140 golfers interested in supporting the school system they love. Men, women and co-ed teams arrive with smiles and a skip in their step as they prepare to take a day off of work or out of the house to unite around a love of two things: golf and Catholic school education.
This 18-hole, playful scramble event features post-event games, raffle fun, a hole-in-one chance to win a new car (twice!), an exciting silent auction, food, prizes and giveaways. In fact, many of our teams come back year after year since it's such a fun event. Come play with us! (Psssst, you don't have to be a good golfer to play in this event!)

A Message from the GZO Chair
For those of you who don't know me, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Patti Purcell, mom of SMC students, Nick (class of 2019) and Sam (graduating class of 2021), and wife to David. We've been in the St. Mary Catholic Schools system for 15 years and most know me as an avid volunteer, supporter and super fan of SMCS co-curriculars (I've been known to sport a cowbell and loud whistle at many events).
I volunteered to be the chair of GZO for the second year this year after having golfed in it for the past five years and having a blast. This year, we’re excited to be holding the event at the High Cliff Golf Course, owned and operated by two SMCS alumni, Dan Rippl and Jeff Luniak. This new venue will help us celebrate SMCS alumni and the foundation SMCS continues to foster in providing quality Catholic education for our students.
This event is planned and powered by us, the parents. The Booster Club, in fact. And we're all part of the Booster Club whether you attend the Booster Club meetings or not if you have a child in any co-curricular activity at all. We will need your help (you and/or your student’s help) for day-of event and could definitely use some help before the event (mostly on handling getting donations for silent auction and/or gift cards in any amount). If you can't physically volunteer in June or on event day (Friday, July 16), consider purchasing or donating an item for the auction, or contributing a small amount to the event so that we can combine contributions to purchase desirable items.
This event pays for and powers our athletic program needs (think uniforms, equipment and officiating) for the upcoming year and the system relies on us to raise the money here so they don't have to charge us a larger participation fee. So I implore you...if you've read this far, please commit to doing something for the GZO; as a volunteer, a sponsor, an auction contributor or rounder-upper of auction items. We need them all, and I'm asking you, my fellow parents, to help me out with making this important event a huge success.
Thanks, and hope to hear from you or see you on event day!
Go Zephyrs!
