Teaching and Learning
You might be thinking, “I’m a parent, not a teacher.” However, whether or not you’ve had formal training, you are indeed your child’s first teacher. For example, by the time a child turns 1, his parents will have spent 8,760 hours providing him with consistent care. When he is ready to start kindergarten at the age of 5, his parents will have accumulated 43,800 hours —over 1,000 days—with him. Although, the amount of time changes once school begins, the child still looks to his parents as his initial source of learning. Therefore, education should be viewed as a shared responsibility or partnership between parents and teachers.
In order to embrace this partnership, we are offering a link to learning literacy night. We want our school families connected to the teaching and learning goals of our students. The literacy night will begin with a quick data dive where you will learn to decipher your child’s reading scores. This data dive, will be followed by individualized goal setting where we will guide you in creating appropriate yet manageable goals for your child that will drive your efforts and assistance at home. Finally, the session will end with our skilled teachers introducing stress free at-home activities aligned to the goals that have been set.
*Although we love your kids, please note that the evening's events are geared for adults.
