St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School - September 2018

Welcome back to school

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the 2018/19 Academic Year, I hope that you had a good restful summer and some wonderful quality time with your children. We were blessed with good weather for much of the summer holiday, I hope that you managed to get out and about as a family.

A very warm welcome to our families joining us this September for the first time, we look forward to meeting with you over the coming months.

We have come back to a beautiful new library, many thanks to our PTA for their funding and to Mr Fowler for all his efforts im managing the modernisation. You can see our reading tree wall image at the top/side of the newsletter, we have lots more furniture arriving for our computing space in October.

It has been a lovely week in school, it it so great to see everyone back in their new classes.

Year Ahead Meetings

Thanks you to all those parents who have attended the Year Ahead meetings this week, please remember that we have some to go:

Year 2 - Tuesday 11th September at 2pm.

Years 5&6 - Wednesday 12th September at 9am.

Start of Academic Year Mass

On Thursday 13th September (at 2pm.) we will have our Mass to celebrate the start of the academic year. This will take place outdoors on the field, for children in Years 2-6. All parents are very welcome to attend, we will have seating for you to one side. We are grateful to Fr Rob for celebrating Mass for us. During Mass our elected School Council and members of the Chaplaincy Team will receive their badges and receive a special blessing. Should it rain we will celebrate Mass in the school hall and parents will not be able to attend due to a lack of space, let's pray for good weather! Please keep an eye on your messages before Mass in case we announce a cancellation due to rain.

Safety in the Playground

We would like to remind you that all children, including toddlers, must walk with their scooters in the playground. It is a very small space and with so many people present we must ensure that no one is hurt. Please remind your child of our rule at collection time, we appreciate your support in this.

Term dates and school calendar

Please keep an eye on our online school calendar for details of events that are coming up in the school year, we are finalising many dates now as the year gets underway.

Our term dates can be found here.

Best wishes for the academic year ahead,

Vince Burke
