The 4 Types of Protists
The Amoeba, the Euglena, the Paramecium, and the Volvox
Amoeba
An amoeba surrounds food and creates a food vacuole, which lets it digest it. It moves by changing it's shape and creating a false foot with lets it move. It reproduces by the parent cell dividing and producing 2 new cells. It will turn into a hard shell.
Euglena
Most of the time the euglena creates food using photosynthesis. It moves using a flagella, which is similar to a motor. To reproduce it splits itself in half. It has an eyespot to help it find light.
Paramecium
Paramecium eats other microorganisms and eats them by sweeping it into it's oral groove using cilia. It moves using the cilia around it. It's capable of sexual and asexual reproduction. The paramecium will make themselves appear larger when provoked.
Volvox
The volvox gets food from photosynthesis. It has two flagella which help it move. To reproduce, when the daughter colonies mature the parent bursts open to release the daughter. Volvoxes live together in a colony.
