SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM
Rice PTA is excited to announce that we are participating in National PTA's "School of Excellence" program! This initiative is designed to improve partnerships between schools and communities, and increase family engagement in the school. See the attached letter from our Principal and PTA President for more information about this year-long program.
As part of the School of Excellence process, we will be surveying our parents in the fall and spring to assess areas to improve upon at Rice. For this, we need your help! Please complete the attached survey and return it to the front office by September 30, or fill out the digital version at https://forms.gle/1eQUhxEHRc7UkDKf6. Alternate language versions of forms are offered below:
- Spanish Version ( https://www.pta.org/docs/default-source/files/programs/school-of-excellence/2019/survey-questions-2019-20_spanish.pdf)
- Chinese Version (https://www.pta.org/docs/default-source/files/programs/school-of-excellence/2019/survey-questions-2019-20_cht_traditional-chinese.pdf)
Are you interested in being a part of the team to analyze what we learn and discuss ways that our PTA can better involve families? We are looking for administrators, staff, students, parents, and community members to serve on our Excellence team. Contact president@ricepta.org if you are willing and able to help.

P.E. Weekly Newsletter
We have started a new running program in PE here at Rice. This year, all students will be participating in what we call “EZ Scan". Every student begins each day with a 10ish minute jog along a path that traverses in and around our school. Students have been using a QR code to record their daily distances. We will post monthly progress so all of the kids can see how far they have ran. This past week we ran for 3 days and we amassed an astounding total of 864.08 miles, for a class average of 172.81 miles! We hope to send out weekly updates so YOU can help us celebrate, and encourage our kiddos as they work towards a lifetime of fitness!
We will continue our volleyball unit in class, this week we will begin working on serving, passing, hitting. We will begin our volleyball tournament next week!
