Keeping You Linc'd In!!!
From the Principal's Desk
With the winter break only a day away, it is easy to get consumed by the stresses of the holiday season. So much to do, seemingly so little time. It can be overwhelming at times. However, this time of year also allows opportunities for us to come together to share, to celebrate, and to have a little fun. The last couple of weeks at Lincoln, amidst the learning activities and assessments, we took time to enjoy the sounds of our wonderful music programs, see our basketball teams win some thrilling games against our cross-town rival, and compete in intense staff and student volleyball games in our annual tournament. It was great seeing so many staff and students participate in this week’s spirit days, and we look forward to seeing which homeroom will take home bragging rights in this year’s door decorating contest. We also eagerly await the premiere of this year’s Lincoln Holiday Movie which will be shown at tomorrow’s all-school assembly. Whew! A lot going on here at Lincoln.
When we return from break we will begin planning for the 2020-2021 school year. As hard as that might be to believe, we want to get an early jump so that our sixth and seventh grade students can make some informed decisions about their learning options for next year. Elective selection sheets will be completed in January and more information about that will be emailed after the holiday break. In the meantime, please keep the following date in mind:
Thursday, January 16
Incoming 6th Grade Info Night, 6:30 -7:00 PM, Gym - I will be presenting information to incoming sixth grade students and parents about the transition to middle school and the start of sixth grade.
6th to 7th Parent Orientation Meeting, 6:30-7:00 PM, LRC - Mr. Gleason will provide current sixth grade parents with information about the transition to seventh grade.
Elective Night (Open House), 7:00-8:00 PM - Come wander the halls and classrooms to learn more about Lincoln's amazing elective program.
On one last note, the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey (5E) is coming in January. Be on the lookout for an email the week we return from break regarding this important survey. I know sometimes in our efforts to gather stakeholder input, parents can feel they suffer from "survey overload," but this survey in uniquely important. Our leadership teams review your input thoughtfully in planning our improvement efforts for Lincoln. When you receive the survey login information, please take a few moments to describe your Lincoln experience. We greatly appreciate it.
On behalf of the LIncoln staff, we wish everyone in our Lincoln Community a very peaceful holiday season, and a very happy New Year!
