We've Got the P.O.W.E.R.!
Central Cabarrus High School 2014-2015
What is POWER?
Central Cabarrus students will have the unique opportunity next school year of participating in a P.O.W.E.R. block each day where hard work is rewarded and help is readily available. POWER stands for Plan, Organize, Work, Eat, Relax. We are excited to offer time within our day where students assume responsibility for choosing their plan for success through the following opportunities:
- · Tutoring time with teachers
- · Peer tutoring
- · Quiet work sessions
- · Group work sessions
- · Project time
- · Club meetings and activities
- · Informational meetings on scholarships, class offerings, college applications, etc.
- · Seminars on study skills, research techniques, stress management
- · Games, movies, performances, school spirit activities, etc.
Plan, Organize, Work, Eat, Relax
POWER Schedule
1st period: 7:15 - 8:35
2nd period: 8:40 - 10:00
3rd period: 10:05 – 11:30
POWER and LUNCH : 11:30 - 12:50
4th period: 12:55 – 2:15
Parents:
We need the help and support from parents and students during our POWER block. Students will be heavily supervised but not easily located. Students will have the opportunity to be in teachers classrooms, gym, cafeteria media center , auditorium and other areas of the building identified as POWER block areas. For this reason, we strongly discourage checking out during POWER. We ask that you check out before or after POWER, if absolutely necessary. If check outs are absolutely necessary during this time, a parent or guardian must be present.
Looking ahead
We look forward to opening our classrooms and building to the plethora of opportunities for our students to be successful in classes and active in our school community!
