Pumpkins, Apples, and Leaves...It’s Fall!
Temperatures here in the valley are starting to cool down (well, we hope). Fall is one of my favorite times of year letting fresh air in and enjoying more outdoor activities. Some fun facts about the month of October are it’s national pizza month and national popcorn popping month. So indulge a little with the kiddos! October is also the time for fun things like a trip to the pumpkin patch, Halloween parties, and trick or treating!
We have some fun events on the calendar this month. Be sure to check out the calendar and utilize Big Tent to RSVP to events. The Providence Harvest Festival will be at Huckleberry Park on Saturday, October 29th. Our group plans on participating in the trick or treating by handing out candy and handing out flyers inviting Moms to our November mixer. Hoping to get more Moms involved in our group! I hope to see a lot of our current members volunteering for this event.
I also wanted to say what a great group of Moms and children I find myself surrounded by. I have been in Moms club for a year now and have always felt welcomed at any event. I am grateful for joining, this group has allowed me to feel supported and make lasting friendships. I hope to get to know more of you better. This really is an amazing group of Moms and I want everyone to get as much out of it as possible!

As your fellow MOMS, we're here to help you celebrate your good fortune, but also to lift you up when life sends you lemons. We're here to help and encourage, so please reach out to us if you need a hug or something more.
Please, let the Sunshine Coordinator, Maythe McCoy, or a board member know if you have cause for celebration or are in need of additional support due to a surgery, new baby, or other life event.
1. Book Club Coordinator - member of the book club who keeps track of whose turn it is to host. Reports the book the host has chosen. Could meet quarterly.
2. Kids Book Club Coordinator - organizes a kids' book club in which one book is chosen and read at home. The kids meet to talk about the book and do a craft/activity. Could be monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly.
What's up, MOMS?!
Busy, book-loving moms don't have time to waste on crappy books. Am I right?
Bring a copy of a book you own and would recommend to others to the next Mommy Mixer and swap it out for a book another mom brings in. If we all bring in books to share that we love, then we'll never have to read another crappy book again!
Just remember to write your name somewhere on the book so that you can get it back some day!
Participation is absolutely optional. We're just trying to share the book love.
The Secret Life of Violet Grant
by Beatriz Williams
A historical thriller, this novel entwines the fate of two very different women. Vivan Schuler lives in Mahattan in 1964, working for a major metropolitan magazine that - because of her gender - has not yet let her write. When a mysterious package arrives in the mail, she feels she's stumbled on her breakthrough story. The package is a suitcase addressed to her long lost aunt, Violet Grant. Violet's fate is unknown by her family. All that is known is that she was accused of murdering her husband and running off with her lover. As Vivan works to unlock the mystery surrounding her aunt's disappearance, her own romantic life becomes very tangled.
With a mixture of mystery, suspense, and even romance, this book is sure to entertain. It's told from two perspectives - that of the witty Vivan, a 1960s socialite and aspiring journalist, and the somber Violet, a scientist in pre- World War I Europe, whose misguided marriage turns her world upside down.
