The Friday Update
Weekly News and Updates for the Fine Arts Faculty of PCSD
Happy Friday!
This week's news is pretty full - amazing how a short week brings tons of reminders and other things. Read it at your leisure. As you have time, deal with the things and let me know if you have any questions.

TODAY is the Deadline
There is still a sliver of time to get an application filled out and sent to me via email. Application and Grant Guidelines are attached at the bottom.
Reminder about PLC
Once I say "yes, I will happily pay for that", THEN you need to have your EAC submit the official "PCSD Professional Learning Leave and Absence Request Form" - they have that and know exactly what that is so be sure and go to them.
Does that make sense? Email me if not.
PLC Paperwork is attached at the bottom for convenience

Paulding's Next Star
The live performance is Saturday, September 14 at 6:30p.m. at PCHS
If you have students in the show, it is perfect to help support them to sale the tickets to all those folks that want to come see that person perform anyway. If they pay you the $10, you keep it. If they pay the $10 online or at the door, the foundation keeps it. So advertise and sell them. Click HERE to log the name and info for the individual tickets and we will have a digital record of how many are sold. They need to try to remember to bring their ticket with them to the show. It will take a lot of time to look up every single person if they don't bring the ticket so be sure and tell them they need the ticket at the door.

Social Media Reminders
- Classroom pages are great for announcing, reminding, advocating, and more, but be sure you are fully aware of the students in your class who cannot have their picture taken and displayed.
- When displaying artwork online, please be sure that the student first and last name are not prominently displayed on the front of the artwork. It is fine to say "isn't Susie's painting nice?" but don't put "Susie Jones from Abney, 1st Grade"...without permission of the parents and students. This doesn't really apply to High School because they are often involved in art contests and competitions so their name is associated with their work. In elementary, the general rule of thumb is never display their first and last name along with their work.
- Locking down your classroom page so that no one can post on the page without your approval is best. That way you cannot have surprises posted to your page. This is also true for tagging - you can control who can and cannot tag you on your social media.
- Oh the Internet....you know, the WORLD WIDE web?...... "private groups" are really a misnomer. Nothing is "private" once it is shared - even if you share to only ONE person, it is no longer "private" - I always think of it like this....Maybe I am weird but I talk to myself in the bathroom mirror sometimes and I tell myself all kinds of things I wish I could say to others. THAT is a "private share" - outside of your bathroom mirror, nothing is private.
- Personal FB, Insta, Twitter, etc pages - This is your personal page but remember that you are followed or searched by kids/parents sometimes. On Instagram, anyone can follow you and you don't even realize it. Obviously, it is unwise to friend students online.
- Always consider what you post before you do it. Once it is out there, it cannot be retracted (even if you delete it). As a teacher, you need to think of yourself as a "public figure" and recognize that whatever you post is part of that image. What are you wanting to display as part of that image? It really does matter.
- Refer to our county statement on Social Networking and online presence. I have attached a pdf of that below for your convenience. Screenshot it, frame it, put it under your pillow at night and let it soak in by osmosis but please know what it says and follow it. All of these reminders are meant to protect you not stifle you.
