It is EXTEMEMLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU KEEP YOUR STUDENTS HOME if they are sick and exhibiting COVID related symptoms, such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breathe, diarrhea, or body/ muscle aches.

If students are exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 they will be sent to the care room to be monitored and have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer upon entering. If students have a fever or show symptoms they must go home immediately. In order to return to school the student must do one of the following :

  • Return with a negative Covid test result (PCR Test, not a rapid test)
  • Return after 10 days of quarantine
  • Return with a doctor's note with a different diagnosis and clearance to return

The following locations are available for free COVID testing:

  • K Med
  • Walgreens
  • Optimed
  • Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Airport

PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

DID YOU KNOW SPRING VALLEY HAS A PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE?

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is an advising group to the KPS Superintendent and supports and guides her in the work of uplifting the district and supporting the children in the district. Each school has a representative; our current representative is our PTO President, Trudy Campbell. In the role of PAC Rep, Mrs. Campbell is available to all parents to work in collaboration with district administration to ensure that mechanisms exist for voices to be heard and relay those voices to the district administration. While supporting the mission and vision of the district, Mrs. Campbell looks forward to assisting in finding solutions to existing and potential issues, so that we can create the best possible educational outcome for our students at Spring Valley. I look forward to offering any help in navigating information/issues and in celebrating the great things happening in the district.

News from the PTO

FROM: Trudy Campbell - Spring Valley PTO President

It is so exciting to have our children back in school! I have seen many new faces, as well as familiar faces during morning drop offs and afternoon pickups; it is great to see all of you!

I would like to invite you to the first PTO meeting of the 2021/2022 school year. We will have our first virtual PTO meeting on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 6-7pm. A link to join the meeting will be available through your child’s school email. A robo-call reminder will also go out prior to the meeting.

WE NEED PARENT INVOLVEMENT!

Parents, Grandparents and Guardians, being a voice in your child's school makes a difference. When your child sees your positive interactions with our faculty and staff it affirms positive relationships for them as well. As a parent, the PTO meeting is the ideal place for you to share your ideas on how to make Spring Valley the best possible learning environment for our children by creating additional opportunities to promote our school. In the past we have had movie nights, carnivals, walk-a-thons, and have supported our classrooms and teachers through fundraisers. I look forward to recreating some of these, as well as new family, fun activities. BUT WE NEED YOU!

FALL FUNDRAISER!

The annual “Goodies Factory” fundraiser will kick off on October 14th. Packets will come home with students. There will be a cover letter with instructions regarding payment options, online ordering options, and prize information for top sales. The Goodies Factory has amazing popcorn and candy treats that make great gifts and or perfect to have for the holidays. Spring Valley makes 50% of every item sold. This is our biggest fundraiser! Our goal is for each student to sell three items.

SPRING VALLEY SPIRIT WEAR COMING SOON!

Spring Valley Spirit wear orders will go out in early November… We have quality hoodies and a variety of spirit wear that will be available. They make great Christmas gifts so keep that in mind for your student!

Important: Student Drop Off

All students that are drop offs must be dropped off in the parking lot near the designated signs. Please DO NOT pull up to the bus entrance. We have been seeing more of this happening over the last couple weeks. This makes it difficult for our buses to enter and also causes a safety concern for students walking to the building. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Students are able to be dropped off no earlier than 8:30am. Supervision of students begins at 8:30. Please keep our students safe by adhering to this time. Again, thank you for helping to keep our students safe!
