TRIMESTER 2 GALLERY WALK - Wednesday, March 2nd
Our trimester 2 Gallery Walk is this Wednesday. We are so excited for the students to share their talents, activities, projects, and/or assignments that they are PROUD of...
Students only need to show off 1-2 things. They will have one more Gallery Walk later this year. Please speak with your child and help them to decide what they are excited to show off to their peers and the North Side staff and community.
AGAIN, we will have the gym (enter Door 4) open to families from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday so that you may also see our North Side students talents and accomplishments. We hope you are able to stop in!
Yours in Education,
Stephanie Leasure
Ways To Help Your Child With Reading Comprehension
When children enter school, they are learning to read letters, sounds and eventually words. It is a quick process as we expect kindergarten children to be reading at a Level C by the end of the kindergarten school year. We do work on reading comprehension in the early years, K-2, but this is not the "main focus" until grade 3. Starting in grade three, students are reading to "learn", which means they are now focusing on comprehension of text and digging deep into the meaning of text. This does not come easy to all students and some children may need extra support at home.
The article above is a great at home tool to support your child with reading comprehension.

Spring Pictures are Tuesday, March 8th. Only children with orders will have their picture taken. Use Code: 67385EA if you wish to order online.
Outdoor Recess
If you need any assistance with coats and other winter gear, please contact our school social worker, Cory Headley at cheadley@eastnoble.net or call the school (260) 347-1354 and ask to speak with her.
Student Drop Off/Pick Up: Parents - PLEASE, continue to follow this! It is for your children's safety!
Please remember that our building is locked until 7:30 a.m. Students should not be dropped off at the school or near the school before 7:30 a.m. This is for their safety! If your child is a car rider, they MUST be dropped off at door 3, not at the front of the building, not across the street at the church, and not in our front parking lot so they have to walk between busses. AGAIN, this is for the safety of the students!
Pick up reminders are below for car line:
Car Pick Up:
We ask that you CALL BY 1:30 if you are making changes to your child's end of day dismissal. We are receiving too many calls close to 2:30 p.m. At this time, I have advised my office staff to let families know that we cannot honor changes past 2:00 p.m. This is for the safety of your child!
Also, if you are picking your child up in a vehicle, you MUST pick them up in the car line at the back of the building. You MAY NOT pick them up at door 1. We have had too many close calls where students are running across the front lot to a car and almost getting hit by a vehicle passing through. THIS IS NOT OKAY! We put procedures into place for all families to keep our students safe! We need all families to respect these procedures and help us keep all of the children safe. Waiting a few extra minutes in line is worth a safe child!!!! We appreciate you working with us!!!
Information From Our North Side Office Staff:
As a courtesy to our office staff, please try to avoid making phone calls to the office from 7:50-8:10 a.m. and from 2:30-2:50 p.m. During these timeframes we are working to get students into classes or ready to head home on busses or by car. We don't want to miss anything or make mistakes. We appreciate your help with this!
Office Reminders:
1. If your child is ill, please call our office and let us know by 9 a.m. if at all possible. Our office number is (260) 347-1354. If you believe the illness is Covid related, please ask to speak with Nurse Whitney. Other ways to contact us, e-mail Nurse Whitney at waumsbaugh@eastnoble.net or Stephanie Leasure, Principal at sleasure@eastnoble.net
2. Please contact the office by 1:30 p.m. if you need to make changes to your child's transportation home for the day. We cannot guarantee the changes when you call after 1:30 p.m. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR THIS! Please note that the office phone may be on night ring during dismissal, please leave a message and we will call you right back as soon as dismissal is complete.
3. If your child is a car rider, please make sure to use your car tags each day. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE CAR TAGS, PLEASE STOP AT THE OFFICE TO GET SOME RIGHT AWAY!
4. If you need to change your child's bus or start bus transportation, please follow these steps:
Bus Change or Start Up Requests
If you need to change your bus location, please go to the North Side website, https://www.eastnoble.net/o/north-side-elementary, and follow these directions:
Click on the "Menu" at the top of the home page. Click the “For Families” tab and then the "Transportation" tab. When the drop down menu appears, you will see a link called “Transportation Change Request.” When you click that link, you will be taken to a form that you can fill out and submit electronically. It will notify transportation via email that a request has been submitted and they will begin working on fulfilling the request. Once arrangements have been made and confirmed with drivers, transportation will communicate the arrangements to parents.
Our February "Wildcat Way Winners" will be pulled next week! They will be posted on our social media sights. Look for their picture soon!!!!

"Wildcat Way" Tickets - PLEASE CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE!!
Students and staff recite our Wildcat Way each day: WE ARE RESPECTFUL, WE ARE RESPONSIBLE, WE ARE SAFE. Please ask them how they show respect, responsibility and safety each day.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF THEM FOR RECEIVING THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT/TICKET!!! THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO THEM! Have you kept track of how many they have received thus far?

FROM THE OFFICE OF MR. PERLICH, DEAN OF STUDENTS
Attendance
The beginning of the school day is the most important for your child. Getting off to a good start can make a big difference in how the rest of the day goes for them. Please help your child to have the best day possible by getting them to school on time.
Safety
Students are doing a nice job practicing the different drills each month. Staff does a nice job of preparing students for any safety situation. Drills are put into place to make sure staff and students are prepared for anything. Please contact me if you ever have any questions regarding our safety plan or safety drills.
Bus
The MASK MANDATE is still in place for public transportation. Students MUST wear a mask on the bus due to this mandate. This is a parent responsibility. New Federal guidance will be coming out at the end of the month as to how long this will be in place.
Please remember that riding the bus is a privilege and we don’t want to take that away from anyone. So, thank you for helping us with making sure they have a mask when they load the bus in the mornings!
Please contact me any time. The school number is (260) 347-1354 and my e-mail is jperlich@eastnoble.net

PLEASE MAKE SURE IPADS/CHROMEBOOKS ARE CHARGED AND COME TO SCHOOL DAILY!
COUNSELING CORNER WITH MISS HEADLEY:
Do you need internet at home for your children to complete school work? T-Mobile is pairing up with school districts to support families for just that! Please read the flyer below and apply if applicable. If you would like a hard copy of this flyer, please reach out to Ms. Headley at (260) 347-1354 or e-mail me at cheadley@eastnoble.net.

Nurses Corner:
As you have seen, we no longer need to quarantine students due to close contacts. However, we still ask that you screen your children for illness symptoms and keep them home if they are experiencing them.
Please remember that students MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. This also goes for diarrhea and puking. Students must be free of these two symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school as well.
We appreciate your help and support through all of this!
If you need to reach me, please call (260) 347-1354 or e-mail me at waumsbaugh@eastnoble.net.
Stay healthy!!
Nurse Whitney
