We highlight different events, accomplishments, and programs that are happening around our school community on our website and Facebook page. Here are some of the recent stories we have shared:

RCS students join local law enforcement in R.A.D. training

During the month of May, a number of RCS High School Seniors registered to take part in the Albany County Sheriff’s self-defense program called R.A.D. through the school. According to their website, R.A.D offers effective self-defense options for women to remain safe while allowing them to actively improve their self-defense skill sets and social-emotional well-being. Learn how our students observed the tactics and training provided by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office here by clicking here!

Full β€˜STEAM’ Ahead! Learn how AWB is setting the tone for today’s young learners

Last week, A.W. Becker Elementary held their AWB STEAM Day! The theme for this year was the Great Arctic STEM Challenge! Students participated in activities within their classroom and also moved around the building for different stations. They controlled robots with the RCS First Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Team and did activities related to this year's theme with Middle School student and teacher visitors! A great time was had by all as they worked on their science, technology, engineering, art, and math skills!

RCS High School students inducted into National Honor Society

This week, 28 students were inducted into RCS High School National Honor Society Chapter! Congratulations to these students on receiving this prestigious recognition! Thank you , Girl Scouts!

Earlier this year, Girl Scout Troop #1149 and Troop #1744, whose members attend PBC and AWB Elementary, created these beautiful hand-painted wooden signs for our school gardens! Big thank you to both troops for these lovely additions to the gardens. They came out great!

District Fundraisers

Running & Upcoming Fundraisers:

  • MS & HS Genders & Sexualities Alliances Clubs -- Homeless Youth Donation Drive: For the month of May, the Middle & High School GSA Clubs are currently running a supply donations drive to collect necessary supplies to help out youth who cannot stay in their homes and need a safe place to stay. They are looking for the following items: toothbrushes, soap, body wash, slippers, shampoo, loofahs, masks, school supplies, backpacks, activity gift cards (ex. movies, bowling, etc.), travel-size toothpaste, travel-size deodorant, and travel-size mouthwash. Please note that no monetary donations are accepted.
  • Class of 2023 -- Bottle and Can Collections: Bring your empty bottles and cans to Just Makes Cents at 2381 Route 9W in Ravena and ask them to apply your total to the Class of 2023 account. The fundraiser runs all year long.
  • Class of 2023 -- Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser: Join us in the fun and send our flock to friends, neighbors, & family members! Unsuspecting loved ones will walk out their front door to their yard full of our flock of pink flamingos! Flocks will rest for 24 hours in each location, where that person will choose to either β€œflock it on” to someone else or simply have them removed. Participate now through the end of May.

Have a safe weekend!
