Hollydale HERO Highlights
A news publication for the parents and students of Hollydale
Thursday March 3, 2022
Dear Hollydale Families,
In follow-up to Acting Superintendent Hiu’s letter to families that was emailed on Monday, February 28.
Our hearts go out to the students, families, and staff who may be directly impacted by the situation unfolding in Ukraine. We want you to know we are here to provide support for you and your family. Below are some additional tips to help guide discussion with your children and additional resources to support your family as needed.
Tips for Supporting Your Child at Home
Ask what children have heard, what they are feeling, and what they think.
Help your child to express their feelings and offer comfort to help them feel safe.
Process your own feelings so you can be available when your children need you.
Limit exposure to the news to times when you are together. Help kids make sense of what they hear in an age-appropriate way.
If you would like to talk with someone about how best to support your student, please contact the main office at 503-661-6226 and ask to leave a message for our licensed professional school counselor, Mrs. Christine Fitch. Mrs. Fitch can provide support as well as assist in connecting your family to additional mental health supports.
Accessing Support in the Community
There are community-based organizations that can serve as a resource for families impacted by the conflict. To connect with these organizations please click on the links below.
We are dedicated to the safety and well-being of ALL our students and staff. During this time of uncertainty, please know that we are here to provide support in whatever way we can.
