A new piece of learning this week, will be learning that volume can be additive when dealing with an irregular rectangular prism. Students will learn to decompose the 3D prism and find the volume of each piece and then add the two volumes together to find the total volume of the 3D prism.
Students will have a quiz on volume on Monday, September 9th. We will review in class before taking the quiz.
Since this is a short week, the spiral review quiz will be on Thursday, September 12th.
Science-Reeves Homeroom
This week students will be fully immersed in investigating physical and chemical changes in our Chemical Change Cafe. Students will do a stations for the first part of the week. By the end of the week, our cafe will be open and students will be making an item from the cafe menu. As an assessment, students will be adding new items to the menu ONLY if the items go through a chemical change! It is going to be a FUN week in science!
Learning Target: I can determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in a change of properties highlighting the cause and effect that occurs.
Focus Questions:
- How is a chemical change different from a physical change?
- What happens to the original substance that is involved in a chemical change?
