Literacy Night is Coming
This Week's Golden Lions!
There were 30 Golden Lions awarded to students this week. Here are the descriptions for each of those Golden Lions. Our students demonstrate GREAT character at Lakeview!
• Karlie has had such a positive attitude in the music room the last week or so. She is engaged and working hard. Keep up the good work Karlie!
• Violet saw that a classmate appeared to be upset when they came in the classroom. She took the time to go to them and offer kind words to help cheer them up. Thank you Violet for being so thoughtful, kind, and caring.
• I asked Joey if he could be my "voice" this morning to help with breakfast. I know that he was nervous, but I really appreciated him helping me when I had no voice. Thanks Joey!
• At recess, everyone was lining up to come in. I noticed that there was a group of classmates that appeared to be arguing. Hannah stepped up as a leader and help to put a peaceful end to the argument. Nice job, Hannah. Way to be a leader!
• Jace recently started a research project for reading and his partner is someone he doesn't normally work with. However, he is so engaged and respectful to his partner you would never know they don't usually hang out! He listens to his partners ideas and shares his thoughts. He is truly modeling what it means to work in a partnership. Thanks for being a great example for others, Jace!
• Amina recently started a research project for reading and her partner is someone she doesn't normally work with. However, she is so engaged and respectful to her partner you would never know they don't usually hang out! She listens to her partner's ideas and shares her thoughts. She is truly modeling what it means to work in a partnership. Thanks for being a great example for others, Amina!
• Our math assessment was tricky, but Aiden didn't give up and did great work!
• Egxon welcomed our new student by making sure he had all the supplies on his desk for Math. Nobody asked Egxon to do this...he saw someone who needed something and he just stepped in to help! You are such a great person, Egxon!
• Jace was willing to help someone else to figure out some challenging math problems. He was patient and wanted to see their strategy and then used that information to help this student do the math problems. Jace, way to go!
• Greisi helped another student during a properties of glue science experiment. She was patient and kind. You are a natural "teacher!" Thank you, Greisi!
• Josey helped another student during a properties of glue science experiment. She was patient and kind. You are a natural "teacher!" Nice job, Josey!
• Aiden was so engaged while learning the words to "The Twelve Days of Christmas," in music. He was focused on looking at the words and repeated everything I said as a strategy to stamp those lyrics in his brain. Great job Aiden!
• This week on the playground I was carrying a clipboard and the wind blew my papers all over. Natalia ran to help me gather them all up, and I really appreciated her kindness. Thank you so much, Natalia!
• Many students in Mrs. Benn's 2nd grade class received this award:
A whole tray of science materials spilled on the floor when a student moved a desk. It was a mess! The student who had the accident, calmly asked for help. The rest of the science group started helping clean up. Other students either joined in, continued their work or started cleaning up their own areas. This second grade class showed they were safe with science substances, respectful to their classmates and didn't get silly or loud when we had A LOT going on at one time. Wow, wow, wow - thank you second graders for being awesome in science today!
• Mrs. Carrier's entire class receive this award:
Mrs. Carrier's class were so welcoming and helpful when our new student, Yaxiel, came to our school. They made him feel supported and loved with their actions and words. Some said hi, some gave him a tour, some helped him with his computer, some helped him with our math, and some made a sign for inside of his locker welcoming him. All were kind! Way to go Class!
