Physical and Chemical Changes
By Haley Bozorgnia
Physical Properties
Any characteristic of a material that can be observed or measured without changing the identity of the material.
Example:
- Color and shape
- Length and mass
- volume and density(D=M/V)
Physical Changes
The physical property of a identity of the substance change, but the identity of the substance does not change.
Example:
- Changing from one state of matter to the next.
- Melting 0 degrees C,and boiling point 100 degrees C.
- Slicing bread,melting ice,mowing lawn.
Chemical Properties
Any characteristics that gives a substance the ability to under go a change that results in a new substance.
Example:
- Flammability
- React to oxygen
- Reacts with light
- Reacts with water
Chemical Change
A change in the identity of a substance due to the chemical properties of the substance(IS IT REVERSIBLE?)
Example:
- Flammibility
- Reacts with oxygen
- Heat and light
