Parent Guide to ESSA State and Local Report Cards

Dear Parent/Guardian,

North Dakota launched a new website last year designed to help communities across the state to access important information about K-12 districts and schools. Insights features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of school success, including:

• Test Scores

• Graduation Rates

• English Language Progress

• Student Attendance

Insights, or more commonly referred to as the “Dashboard,” is part of North Dakota’s accountability system. It was one of the next steps in a series of major shifts in public education that have raised the bar for student learning, transformed testing, and placed the focus on equity for all students.

As a team, we want to work together to continue to improve the educational programs at Central Cass Public School.

To find out more information about Central Cass Public Schools, visit our school website

(https://www.central-cass.k12.nd.us/) under the About Us section, then Central Cass Insight or click HERE.

If you have questions about this information, please contact the school.

Thank you,

Central Cass Administration

Storm Delays and Cancellations

Check our website and Facebook page for the most current weather information. As soon as we have sent out any alerts, we will let the news stations know. Note in the past, news stations have misinformed our patrons by getting "Central Cass, Central Valley, and Northern Cass" confused, so the most accurate information will always be on our website and FB page.

Because we are mainly a rural school district we do not take closing school lightly but always try to keep the best interests of our students and staff in mind, working closely with the Cass County Sheriff's Office and other local schools to make our final decisions. As you know, in North Dakota, the conditions change not only by the hour but by the minute and we try to take that into consideration. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make those difficult decisions to stay open or to close our school in the future.

PLEASE NOTE: When school is two hours late the building will also open two hours late. Students may not be in the building while there is no one available to supervise.

Make sure you know your login for PowerSchool to see your child's class assignments, grades throughout the year, and to stay connected. See our POWERSCHOOL WEBSITE TAB for tutorials on the downloading the PowerSchool app and other details if you need help with your account. Note: when using the app on your smartphone we do not have a district code, rather you need to enter in the URL: https://central-cass.ps.state.nd.us Directions are on the PowerSchool link above.

Breakfast and Lunch

Central Cass offers a breakfast program for all grades from 7:30 am to 8:25 am. Please see our website lunch and breakfast fees page regarding pricing details. Please remember to keep your lunch accounts up to date. To help make things more convenient checkout our e-funds for schools option to pay online.

We have only three entry points into the school. Elementary on the west, Middle School/High School on the south, and an event entrance on the east.

Elementary students should not be dropped off until after 7:30 am as supervision will not be available and the elementary building will not be accessible.

Absentee Form

Remember we have created an online form as an option to a phone call to notify our school if your child is going to be absent. It is located on the main page of our website. Click here to bookmark the form if you would like. After submitting the form the office staff will alert your child's teachers of his/her absence. Please reference the ATTENDANCE & ABSENCES tab on our student handbooks, located on our website under the "Schools" tab for more detailed information on the North Dakota law and our policy requirements on attendance.

Outdoor Learning Spaces

At Central Cass, we believe that by exposing our students to a wide array of learning environments and opportunities to explore we are helping develop critical thinkers, good communicators, and great collaborators. With this thought process in mind, we have started to map out our outdoor learning spaces around our Central Cass campus. Several of our zones are still in the planning process but many are completed and ready for student and community use. Check out our attached map and let us know if you have any questions.
