5 Essentials Survey

Please take a moment to fill out the 5Essentials Survey for Oakland! Your feedback is so important to us and you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts on a number of topics.

If you have children at other schools, we ask that you fill a survey out for those schools, also. The link is the same to access the survey, but you need to select a different school each time to fill them out for each of the buildings your child attends.

We so appreciate your time in sharing this important information with us!! You can find the link here:

D34 Day Celebration Week!

D34 is celebrating it's 3rd Annual D34 Day! D34 Day is traditionally held on March 4th (3-4). With it being on a Saturday this year, we have a week full of opportunities to celebrate fun in learning, being proud of our district, and supporting our community. Please see below for all of the exciting things that are happening!

We will once again be doing a Kindness BINGO board encouraging our students and staff to spread kindness. Participating students will be entered into raffles for prizes. We will also be hosting a district wide food drive and competition to support Open Arms Mission. There will also be a book drive and a community blood drive (please see flyers below).

Our D34 week is also in conjunction with Read Across America week! We will be having a book fair here at Oakland and door decorating contests for our classrooms. We hope that you will join in the fun of celebrating pride in our district and service to our community and one another.

Cleaning iPads

The technology department is aware that student iPads tend to get a little more dirty around this time of year. If families are interested in cleaning the students’ devices, please follow the steps below.

  • Please spray an electronic safe cleaner (like Windex or a lens cleaner) on a cloth and wipe down the iPad until it is clean. Please don’t use a harsh cloth like a paper towel as this might scratch the screen. Please don’t spray the cleaner directly on the screen.

  • Once the screen is clean, please wipe off any excess moisture from the screen. Also please be careful around the home button as this is the only open spot that moisture can get directly to the screen.

Student iPad pictures

The technology department is asking families to help reduce and monitor the students’ photos that are on the iPads. There has been an increase in the number of students’ photos, especially ones that are not school related. Please help by checking students’ iPads for these photos and deleting them and then deleting them from the deleted folder. Help us teach the students good digital citizenship skills by using the school iPad for school related pictures only.
