Welcome back for our 2021-2022 school year! For the month of September, all students will be learning about the Zones of Regulation during classroom guidance. The lesson will be split into two lessons for all students. The first lesson will introduce the Zones of Regulation to students, where they will be able to align different emotions to the four zones. The second lesson will focus more on the individual student, where they can identify triggers as well as their own coping strategies. Our students will also develop a "Support Tree" where they will identify safe adults both at home and at school to talk with whenever they feel they are in the Red, Yellow, or Blue Zone. This is a great opportunity to discuss coping with emotions with your student!

First and foremost it is so great to welcome all of our students back to school and see all of those smiling faces this year!

This month in the school counseling department we will discussing the "Zones of Regulation". This is an evidence based curriculum that enables students to be regulate their emotions. This not only helps students be more aware of themselves and how their feeling but also helps them to recognize emotions in others through body language and facial expressions, which helps them to build their social and communication skills. This curriculum can not only be used in classroom lessons, but also through small groups and at the individual level as well.

This month, I would like to invite all 4th and 5th graders to start thinking about SCA ( student council association). For those who would like to apply, I am asking that each student writes a brief essay on why they want to be an essay representative and what would make them a good leader for Marshall!
