Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
Cross Country
After a very wet start to the Senior Cross Country last Friday, it was great to complete the event on Tuesday. There were some strong finishes, personal best times and overall enthusiasm by all who participated. An important highlight was the way in which students who had completed the event, encouraged their fellow competitors to finish the course. Great sportsmanship, and a great effort by all. Many thanks to Mr D’Adamo and all who helped out in one way or another over the two days.
Chess
This week our Chess Team did a wonderful job in competing in a new zone competition involving 92 players from 10 schools across Perth. Congratulations to our team for playing seven matches each, and managing an overall team ranking of 6th place. To Evan, Audrey, Jarrad, Ethan and Kirby – a top effort! It looks like you have enjoyed this new challenge.

WCPS Biggest Morning Tea
Once again our PEACE Reps are getting together to put on our very own BMT. This will take place Friday 8 June at the Parish Hall 8.30am - 10am.
We love the opportunity of getting together as a whole community so drop in for a cuppa and cake, bring grandparents, aunties, uncles and the kiddies will have a little play area too. Donations can be made at the door and any keen bakers or shoppers can donate a treat - just let your PEACE Rep know. Huge thanks for supporting this cause.
Vincent's Project for the Homeless
WCPS is proud to support former student Vincent Pettinicchio as he continues his project for the homeless. Since 2013 the WCPS community has helped Vincent provide the homeless of Perth with 4,075 bags full of toiletries and comfort items. Last year, the packs made were donated to 23 charities and community groups. These diverse groups show how much need there is in our city and how the gesture of giving someone a bag essential items can make such a difference to someone in need.
This year Vincent has asked the WCPS community to collect bars of soap. There will be a basket in each year level to drop the bars of soap in. These baskets will then be collected on Thursday June 14. Vincent's target this year is 1,500-2,000 packs.

After School Pick Up - A Reminder
Parents are reminded that it is illegal to wait in cars on Camberwarra Drive to enter the school's carpark.
The school has received a number of complaints from neighbours and other parents about not being able to use this road during pick-up times.
If you choose to arrive early and use the front drive-through system, and there is a line, parents must make a loop around the block and re-join the line when there is space on school grounds.
Please remember that students are supervised until 3.20pm and the pick-up traffic is very light (No Waiting In Line!!!) after 3:10pm.
Physical Education Term 2 Update
Cross Country Carnivals
Last week our Junior (Kindy - year 2) Cross Country Carnival took place on the school grounds with all of our students taking part in the event. Thank you to all the students, parents and teachers for your participation, support and assistance throughout the event.
Yesterday saw all students from Year 3 - 6 compete in the Senior Cross Country Carnival at Mawson Park. Each year group was shuttled from school to their event and then returned to school by the school bus. After discussion and feedback from parents and teachers, this will be the way moving forward in future years. We had some fantastic weather (complete opposite of last Friday!) with students achieving some amazing results and personal best times. I would like to firstly thank all the parent helpers over the 2 days and to all the teachers for your assistance with various jobs. A special thank you to Mrs Pettinicchio for organising the oval bookings and paperwork to host our event, Mr Ian Plummer for your participation in every race and constant support and to Miss Tarnica Golisano for your continuous support and assistance throughout this term.
The medal winners and winning faction will receive awards during a special assembly this Thursday morning (31st May) in the gymnasium.
