“An art therapist uses art materials and directives to activate sensory responses and generate imagery that is directly connected to emotions. This process helps one to re-experience emotions in a way that allows them to organize their feelings and form a narrative around an overwhelming experience.” - https://samsfans.org/art-therapy-how-it-works/
6:00pm - Welcome: National Art Honor Society, Art and Counseling Departments.
6:10- Mr. Cognetto (wellness counselor), will share a mindfulness exercise to help center everyone and open our mind so we are able to bring awareness toward the art and candles we will be creating. Mindfulness can help us bring all of our attention into the moment, allowing everything else going on in our lives to drift away.
6:15pm -Come relieve some stress and spread some holiday cheer while making your very own candle! You will melt, fragrance and pour your own wax! Choose between the relaxing fragrances of Lavender or Eucalyptus. Top off your candle by creating a custom label. There is a 24-person limit on this class. We hope to see you there! with Mrs. Barksdale (school counselor, room C-3).
6:15pm Settle your mind and spirit as you are guided through an acrylic painting experience, producing a landscape image, with the help of Ms. Belf (art teacher), Mr. Fink (art teacher) and the National Art Honors Society (room C-6).
