The Hollywood sign is a well known landmark around the world. It is located in Los Angeles, California. It used to say "hollywoodland," but they removed the last four letters. Sadly, the sign was only meant to last 18 months. Since they did not tear the sign down, it has lasted 90 years!
It's situated on Mount Lee, in the Hollywood Hills area of the Santa Monica Mt. If you would want to visit the sign, you would have to hike, because there is actually no address, only because it is not accessible by transportation.
Hollywood is probably one of the best places to turn your dreams into reality. Inspirational message: This is a place where magic is possible, where dreams can come true. Although sometimes, people struggle and take their life,
The sign is so well known, that it's been in so many movies. It's been in so much that it's got distroyed in them. But back to what I said, about taking their life? A girl named Peg Entwistle took her life by jumping off the H on the sign. Stuff like this made the Hollywood Sign famous.
There is much history behind the sign, so here it is for you. An Englishman named Harry Chandler, designed the sign. It was built in 1923. Although, it was taken down on August 8th, 1978 and rebuilt and completed on October 30th. The original sign was bigger then the current one. Luckily it is still here today because it was only supposed to last 18 months. 90 years and counting!
