Romeo & Juliet

By Skyler Kain

The Feud

I chose the Feud as my reason for Romeo and Juliet's death because they had to sneak around and hide their love in fear that their parents will catch them and forbid them from ever seeing each other.

"Capulet: O brother Montague, give me thy hand.

This is my daughter's jointure, for no more

Can i demand.

Montague: But I can give thee more; For i will raise her statue in pure gold,

That whiles Verona by that name is known,

There shall no figure at such rate be set

As that of true and Faithful Juliet.

Capulet: As rich shall Romeo's by his lady's lie----

Poor sacrifices of our enmity!

Prince: A glooming peace this morning with it brings.

The sun for sorrow will not show his head.

Go hence, to pardoned, and some punished;

For never was a story of more woe

Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

The Feud That Broke Two Homes (song)

For my song I chose Broken Home by 5 Seconds of Summer (aka 5sos). The reason I chose that song because I feel like the feud between the two families is what caused Romeo and Juliet's death.

They would yell, they would scream, they were fighting it out
She would hope, she would pray, she was waiting it out
Holding onto a dream, while she watches these walls fall down

The Montague's and Capulet's would fight and make snide comments to the other family. Juliet and Romeo (even though it says she) would hope and dream that their families would work out what ever they were fighting about so they could be together but soon they realize that its not going to happen.

Sharp words like knives, they were cutting her down
Shattered glass like the past, it's a memory now
Holding onto a dream, while she watches these walls fall down

So many obstacles would get in they way of Romeo and Juliet getting married, Like Tybalt holding a grudge against Romeo for crashing the Capulet's party.

Hey mom, hey dad, when did this end?
Where did you lose your happiness?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home
Who's right, who's wrong, who really cares?
The fault, the blame, the pain's still there
I'm here alone inside of this broken home, this broken home

To me these words seem like an after life message from Romeo and Juliet to their parents or families. They were both inside a broken home and when they died, everyone was blaming themselves, saying its their fault when really it doesn't matter. Both families got pain that will still be there.

Wrote it down on the walls, she was screaming it out
Made it clear, she's still here, are you listening now?
Just a ghost in the halls, feeling empty, they're vacant now

Juliet told the Nurse and Romeo and her told Friar Laurence who married them and tried to help them run away. But now the star-crossed lovers are gone.

All the battles, all the wars, all the times that you've fought
She's a scar, she's the bruising, she's the pain that you brought

Romeo and Juliet had many battles they had to fight; One including Tybalt's death. I believe that the main battle, or the war the two had to fight was the feud because they both didn't want their parents upset with them. Their death is a scar, a bruise on the families, reminding them that a silly feud caused them to lose their loved ones.

There was life, there was love, like a light and it's fading out

This line alone just speaks to me in many ways. For me, it reminds me that Romeo and Juliet were probably, maybe in love. They saw light in the feud's darkness, but at a cost for the love and light was their death, so their own light and love is fading out.

Hey mom, hey dad, when did this end?
Where did you lose your happiness?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home
Who's right, who's wrong, who really cares?
The fault, the blame, the pain's still there
I'm here alone inside of this broken home, this broken home

Romeo and Juliet were alone in the two broken homes but they found love in the other household. Now they are dead from the feud in the two households and no one knows who to blame, whos fault, but it doesn't really matter.

You've gotta let it go
You're losing all your hope
Nothing left to hold
Locked out in the cold
Your painted memories
That washed out all the seas
I'm stuck in between
A nightmare and lost dreams

The last part. "I'm stuck in between, A nightmare and lost dreams...' Romeo and Juliet stuck between a nightmare; being dead and not able to live life together; and a lost dream; they did end up together but probably not in the way they wished to be.

Hey mom, hey dad, when did this end?
Where did you lose your happiness?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home

Romeo and Juliet are sort of calling out to their parents and families, asking where did they first lose their happiness and the fighting start.

Hey mom, hey dad, when did this end?
Where did you lose your happiness?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home (broken home)
Who's right, who's wrong, who really cares?
The fault, the blame, the pain's still there
I'm here alone inside of this broken home, this broken home

Again, The two lovers are reaching out to their parents, asking for the feud to end, so that the happiness returned, even though it cost a huge price, that Romeo and Juliet both paid.

Love Broke By Skyler Kain

Fights, Yelling

That's all I hear

How long its been

Over a Year?

A spark of light in the distance glowed

A love I found, But with whom it showed

The enemy, the victim, how this composed

A love found in a hopeless break

Tears are shed, how much can I take?

Blood is spilled

Names are said

Is it a dream? Is it all in my head?

The fear in my heart as grown in size

Now it seems

My love now dies

Poison lips, A gently kiss

The cause is not bliss

Not blade or shame.

The cause of a feud

Now end me too

This poem might not make sense but I put it in the perspective of Juliet sort of. Its telling the story of Romeo and Juliet and how the cause of death isn't the blade or the poison; its the feud between their families.
