Superintendent's Update
Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions
School Leaders of the Diocese of Cleveland,
I am delighted to share the recent announcements of the two newest members of our team: Amy Butler and Monica Dietz. Both bring valuable skills and experience to serve you, the leaders of our schools, and build our system to support the mission of Catholic education in the Diocese of Cleveland. This summer will be a time of transition for them, and for our secretariat at the diocese, as we bring on these new leaders and adjust to our new organizational structure. One of our deeply held root beliefs at the Office of Catholic Education is that collaboration is a force multiplier, and so through this summer of transition, the current outstanding members of our team will join with the new and continue to tune our goals and our methods for serving you, even as we go forward with the major work underway: the workshops and professional learning our secretariat puts on as well as the other learning our team participates in for its own growth.
Speaking of professional learning, I’m just returning from a little personal time away and jumping right into a busy summer schedule of workshops, professional learning, and a little more vacation time. I’ll be in Philadelphia in the middle of this week focusing on equitable services, then out to Indianapolis to participate in the last installment of ACE’s yearlong Reform Leaders Summit. Please keep in your prayers Bishop Perez and the delegation from our diocese who will be returning from their visit to the Vatican and parts of Italy later this week.
Read on to link to the full announcements as well as see a few more features and reminders. Thank you for all that you do for your community and schools. May God continue to bless you, your communities, and your work.
Frank

Elementary School Religion Certification Reminder
With the new certification process and the work done by the OCFE to update and clean up the database, the OCSAA fines that were established last year will be in effect starting with the first AVS in the fall. On the spreadsheet handed out to you in May, any compliance issues were listed and what must be completed in order to take care of those issues BEFORE the start of the 2019-2020 school year were marked. If teachers or administrators are out of compliance at AVS time, fines will occur.
