Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!

Lil Steamer Families --
I'm not too proud to admit that I still get excited when my mom comes to school!
Today, she was with some of her friends who dropped off a $500 monetary donation and a substantial clothing donation for our FES Clothing Closet on behalf of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Albany and Immaculate Conception Church of Fulton in conjunction with the St. Vincent de Paul organization.
As the winter months approach, our stores start to run low with needed clothing and these donations will be put to good use to serve our students.
And yes, I told my mother I loved her as she was leaving -- I always do!
Just like we expect our students to tell their grown-ups each day :)

It’s so important for our children to make kindness part of their daily lives. As the holidays approach, we can encourage them to do some random acts of kindness. Here are a few ideas:
Donate toys or books you no longer need.
Donate money to an organization you participate in.
Pay for someone else’s order at the drive through.
Send cards to men and women who are serving our country.
Tell jokes to make someone smile.
Donate food to your food bank.
Donate pet supplies to the shelter.
Help someone do a chore or other job.
Do yard work for an elderly neighbor.
Speech and Language News: Mrs. Beveroth
Supporting a child with speech errors:
If your child makes a speech sound error like “tar” instead of ‘car’, give them a good model by repeating the word and emphasizing the correct speech sound. For instance, if your child says “tar” you can respond with “Car. Yes, it is a Car. It is a blue Car.” Modeling a word repeatedly allows your child to hear the correct pronunciation. The model indirectly corrects the child but does not put pressure on them to repeat the word.
If you are concerned about your child’s communication skills, please contact me by email at lbeveroth@riverbendschools.net or by phone at 815-589-2911.

Help support the 3D printing lab at FES
Last year, FES received a grant to purchase a 3D printer and the students loved learning how 3D printers work. Toward the end of last year, we had a parent graciously donated a second 3D printer. Since, we were able to get 5 more printers over the 2021 summer. Now, we have 7 3D printers! Mr. Dail along with Mr. Tenboer have been printing projects continuously since the start of the year. Many of the items that we have printed can be seen on the table in our morning announcements! However, printing all of these projects means we run out of materials once in awhile. If you have used or seen a 3D printer, the material is called filament. We mainly use PLA filament and the button below is a link to an Amazon wishlist full of filament. If you are willing to donate a roll, it is greatly appreciated, but please do not feel that you need to.
