Fire Drill & Morning Arrival Adjustments
In response to the shooting in Florida two weeks ago and the melee that took place in the cafeteria area on Friday morning we are making adjustments to our fire drill and morning arrival coverage procedures. We will discuss these changes during our staff meeting on Wednesday. We will also email the changes out to the entire team so that each faculty member will have a written reference point for the changes.
Classroom Walkthroughs & Feedback
In an effort to support teaching and learning in each classroom, our academic support team will increase the volume of classroom walk-throughs and written feedback provided for each teacher. Moving forward, each grade level teacher can expect to have a classroom walk-through visit that is accompanied by written feedback at least 1 x per week. Please make sure that your lesson plans are posted near your door and are current for each day. Also make sure that your board configuration contains each component outlined in our instructional non-negotiables. If you have any questions about the walk-through process and how it will be used to develop teachers and improve instruction, please don't hesitate to contact your grade level administrator, content area facilitator or myself.
Progress Reports Distributed This Week
3rd Quarter progress reports will be distributed on Tuesday & Wednesday of this week in all classes. Our administrative team will be reviewing Gradebook this week to assess the number of assignments that have been given to scholars and to make sure that each team member is in compliance with the CMS middle school grading policy. If you have any questions about the required amount of informal and formal assessments required by CMS, please don't hesitate to contact your grade level administrator.
Staff Meeting on Wednesday Morning
We will have our monthly update and faculty celebrations during our staff meeting on Wednesday morning. We will begin the meeting with a presentation from a guest. Please be on-time.
Wednesday Spartan Time (Test Taking Strategies )
Wednesdays moving forward we will continue to teach and practice test taking strategies with our scholars during Spartan Time. The link for the scripted lesson will be shared on Monday of this week. Many teachers have asked if they can teach additional test taking strategies during this time. We are asking that you first teach the scripted lessons and provide time for your scholars to practice and master the targeted strategies.
