Principal's Message
April 17 2020
Hello Willink Families,
I hope you’ve had a chance to read the message and the documents from Mr. Gumina regarding grading and new instruction starting next week.
There is a large amount of information to digest for students and for parents and while this information will answer many questions it is also likely to generate new ones. I want you to be reassured that your child(ren)’s teachers, counselors, and administrators are all going to continue to be here to work through this together.
I want to echo Mr. Gumina’s message from earlier this week that our distance learning plan may not be a perfect fit for all. While one family may want more rigor, more work, and more time on task the next family may be overwhelmed by what is already being expected. That is why we are grounding learning in each student, each family, each teacher giving their best while keeping health and well-being the priority during this time.
There are several documents that I’m sharing (or resharing) this week listed below and also in linkable images further down in the newsletter. I want to balance the availability of information with the difficulty of being overloaded with new materials. Please trust that I will continue to provide updates and be happy to answer your questions. Our plan going forward will be for teachers to share the next week’s learning on Fridays so as to give students and families time to map out schedules that work for their own individual situations. Given the timing of this week’s changes, some classes may share this information as late as Monday or Tuesday. Friday will be the plan going forward so as to build in some additional routine to the school experience during distance learning.
I want to repeat that there is a lot of information below that will likely need to be referenced more than once by all of us as we go forward. Above all else, I hope that our students and families are happy and healthy. Below are links to documents that will explain and map out a school schedule for the next few weeks and beyond.
Take care,
Brian
You can access the documents from the links below OR by clicking on the pictures further down in the newsletter - they are the same information (the visuals help me keep them straight!). The WCSD Grading Plan and WCSD Grading Rubric are the same documents shared by Mr. Gumina today.

As you may be aware, Governor Cuomo announced yesterday that New York will keep all schools closed until at least May 15 due to the coronavirus, at which time the situation will be reassessed. Please continue to visit Webster CSD’s Coronavirus Info web page for information as it becomes available to us.
