Terrorism Is A Big Issue
Stop ISIS and raise awareness of what they fight for and do
How Many People Has ISIS Killed?
Over the course of the last decade or so, the globe has been plagued with the heinous actions of Middle Eastern terror groups that have seemed to brand and rebrand themselves. Regardless of what these groups call themselves, one has to at some point wonder just what kind of impact these nefarious people have made upon modern society up until today. Looking as recent reports let´s examine the toll that has been taken over the political and civil unrest that has burdened countries like Syria , Iraq, and Afghanistan as well as countries that extend into the region of Northern Africa.
What Is ISIS?
Nick Thompson from CNN stated, ¨The group began in 2004 as al Qaeda in Iraq, before rebranding as ISIS two years later. It was an ally of -- and had similarities with -- Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda: both were radical anti-Western militant groups devoted to establishing an independent Islamic state in the region. But ISIS -- unlike al Qaeda, which disowned the group in early 2014 -- has proven to be more brutal and more effective at controlling territory it has seized¨(Thompson).
What Does ISIS Want?
Jessica Stern said, ¨ISIS`s Collective Goals: Running a Totalitarian state vs. Goading the West to Invade According to ISIS propaganda, the group recognizes that its two
principal collective goals are in conflict¨(Stern). This shows that ISIS wants to run a dictatorial government controlled by the islamic culture in Iraq and Syria but also taking over western land.

How Can We Help To Lessen The Effects Of Terrorism?
There isn't much to do without going there or joining the military, but The Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness said a couple of things you should do, ¨Be aware of your surroundings, and if you see something that could potentially be an act of terrorism report it to Homeland Security immediately¨(Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness). You could also make a poster or pamphlet raising awareness about them.
Have They Succeeded?
In my mind they have definitely succeeded because with 6,073 people dead and there being over 7.4 billion people in the world, that would be less than .000000008206% of the population. So that shows them that we are scared of them because we are scared of a group that has killed eight thousand, two hundred six trillionths of a percent of people in the world. And if you say that we aren't scared of them why are we talking about this.
