Principal's Note...

It is hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us so quickly. Holidays are a wonderful time for families and friends to gather and celebrate, but it can also be a time of increased stress. Every year donations are given to us from various sources to help our families enjoy the holidays and to help defray extra expenses (field trips, school pictures, books, etc.) that may occur during the school year. If we can help in any way please email/call myself or Joanne Seaman. Your calls are completely confidential.

Thank you for all your support throughout the school year. We wish everyone a very healthy and happy holiday season.

Have a great weekend,

-John

Possible Playground Addition?!?!?!?

We are excited to announce that the Memorial School Council is pursuing funding for 1-2 "gaga pits" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga-ga). These would be great additions to existing recess options as kids (and teachers!) love them. You may have seen the pit that Essex Elementary recently added. To make this a reality, we're looking for the following donations: lumber, turf, and labor. The amount of lumber and turf is fairly minimal, so we're hopeful that there's a local business that might be persuaded to help this cause. If you're able to make a donation - or if you have a connection with a business that might be able to help - please let me know or contact Erica Spencer (etspencer@gmail.com).

Toy Drive!

December is a time for giving. Please donate toys to parents who can't afford gifts
for their children. Kindly, a woman named Hailey Granger thought of and idea for Memorial school, to donate toys for families in need. Pathways for children announced an annual holiday store. It ends on December 17th. Pathways program partners with over 30 local businesses and over 1,000 toys to families enroll to the Pathways programs. If you are willing to donate. This toy drive is very unique because donations stay in our community meaning that neighbors are really supporting neighbors. From the donated toys, parents are able to chose of what their kids like. Not every student needs to give a toy, but imagine if we did? Wow, we could make a lot of children happy. Please don't bring in used toys like old stuffed animals. In this project kids of all ages from a
baby to a college student will be receiving toys or gifts. Anything is good to donate. For example, a stuffed animal, a gift card, a book, socks, baby rattle, and many more items will be good, as long as it is new. These people who you will be donating to
might not get a gift during the holiday season but Memorial can make a difference. When the kids wake up they will have a surprise waiting for them. In the front of our school there will be a big decorative bin to put all your donated toys. If you donate a
toy we can make a difference in holidays for families in need. It would be so generous to donate a toy, remember December is a time for giving.

Book Drive!

Help support literacy at Memorial School by donating gently used books. We are mainly looking for books that are appropriate for grades pre-k to 5. Book donations will be accepted from November 30th to December 11th and can be dropped off in the donation box located in the main lobby. Books will be used to bolster classroom libraries.

A portion of the books that are collected will be donated to Family Island Book Initiative, which is a non-profit organization that brings books and reading education to the island of Exuma, Bahamas.
