That just about does it for a busy and exciting month of April. As we begin next week with a fresh month, we are gearing up for the final 5 weeks and a lot of "lasts" for the 2022-23 school year.

-Last School Spirit Days
-Last Middle School Days for our 8th Graders
While time seems to be moving at breakneck speed, we still have so much to teach, learn and experience before we say goodbye on June 7. Please take a moment to check out our calendar and updates below and don't hesitate to reach out to our teachers or front office if you have any questions before school lets out for the summer.

Celebrating Our Outgoing Board Members
We invite everyone in the DPS 109 community to join us for a special celebration of the years of service for outgoing Board of Education members Nicholas Begley and Kenneth J. Ashman. Please join us for a brief ceremony honoring them on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:15 p.m. at the District Center.
Upcoming DPS109 Parent/Guardian Workshop: “Understanding Children’s Hardest Moments”
We are excited for the next session of our Spring DPS109 Parent/Guardian Workshop Series on Thursday, May 4th at 7:00 pm: (Zoom link). This session: “Understanding Children’s Hardest Moments” will focus on the following topics:
Seeing challenging behavior through the lens of emotional regulation.
Seeing mis-behavior as stress-behavior
Helping children develop self-regulation skills
Every hard moment is a teaching opportunity
Additional topics for the subsequent events will include:
The Basics of Childhood Resilience (5/11)
Collaborative Problem Solving (5/18)

8th Grade Graduation Information
8th Grade Families:
8th grade graduation will be here before we know it. Please check out our quick answers to some of the questions you may have. We will continue to update our communication about the ceremony as it becomes available.
Quick Answers to the questions you may have:
1) When is graduation? June 1st, 2023
2) Where is graduation? The Warrior Gym at DHS
3) What time is graduation? 5:30pm
4) When will we receive our tickets? Your student will bring them home following graduation practice on Wednesday, May 31.
5) How many tickets does each student receive: Each of our students will receive 6 tickets for the ceremony (your 8th grader does not require a ticket).
For those who may need additional tickets, you may join the waitlist by calling 847-948-0620. We suggest you reach out to your community of 8th grade parents to see if anyone has any extras prior to requesting a ticket from the office. We will alert those who will receive an additional ticket when we have a final head count.
