Principal's Message
We are walking into our fourth week of school. We appreciate the support & diligence that you all have shown as our parent partners. Our classes are deep into their learning and are working diligently to create amazing Willard Scholars.
Have a wonderful Weekend.

Band/ Orchestra
On September 9th, 4th-grade students participated in classroom instrument video demonstrations showcasing the characteristics and features of each instrument at the same time familiarizing students with the instrumental lessons. Fourth-grade students can learn to play one of seven wind instruments or percussion or four different string instruments; no prior experience is necessary. While lessons are free and taught during the school day by D65 instrumental teachers, most parents are responsible for the instrument rental and a $15 registration fee. Families in need of assistance will be provided a district-owned instrument. Every child wishing to participate is welcome to join...music is for everyone!
Online enrollment deadline to join the band or orchestra programs is Sept.17th. Lessons will begin the week of Sept. 27th. Visit havenorchestra.weebly.com to learn more about orchestra instruments or havenband.weebly.com to discover more about band instruments and access enrollment forms.
Morning/ Afternoon Entry
COVID-19
Willard Filtration System:
Willard School has the mechanical ability to bring in outside air into the classrooms, office area, library, gym, auditorium and multi-purpose room. Through the use of cabinet unit-ventilators and rooftop air handlers varying degrees of fresh air can be brought into the space and filtered using the highest rated filter for each unit.
Two spaces that have low or no mechanical ventilation have Portable Air Purifiers that are used to improve air quality ( top grade HEPA Filters that are recommended by the CDC).
Communication Protocol
When we receive notification of a COVID Positive case the following steps are followed:
The health clerk & district nurse are notified.
They confirm Symptom dates, the positive test date, & quarantine timelines with the parents/ guardians.
School Administration is informed & begins contract tracing.
Individuals who had Close Contact to the COVID Positive individual are informed via email & a physical letter is sent home.
Families/ students/staff are ONLY notified when they are a direct contact to the COVID positive individual.
In order to ensure confidentiality we are not able to share medical information or specific details.
As a school team we are diligent about COVID-19 safety, therefore we maintain 3 feet apart in the classrooms & we ensure that everyone is wearing a mask on the school premises, & that sanitation is being completed consistently.
If you are coming to pick up your child early or to drop them off, please scan the QR code on the front door to self-certify before entering the building.
PLEASE SEE THE D65 COVID DASHBOARD TO READ MORE ABOUT THE COVID-19 PROCEDURES THAT WE ARE ALL FOLLOWING.
COVID Testing
COVID testing begins next week. All students will be tested with their classroom unless they have been opted out. It is a non-invasive saliva test. You will only receive results if your child tests positive.
