North Side HS: September Athlete of the Month
Mariana Calamaco – Sophomore
Varsity Cross Country, Mariana has perfect attendance in school and at cross country practice/meets. She's focused and determined in everything that she does, doesn't complain, she just goes and does it! While some of you might not recognize her at North Side, that's because she attends the Marine Creek Collegiate HS Campus and then still finds the time to run Cross Country and play on North Side's Softball Team. This season Mari has hit a new PR at each meet and we're hopeful she'll qualify for the Regionals in Oct.

Marcus Antonio Miles – Senior
Varsity Football, This tall statue of a kid is holding it down as a student/athlete. As a new transfer student, he has not relented in his pursuit to be better. Better in class, better in school, better on the field and better in life. As you see I am very impressed with what this student represents. I know for a fact he will follow in the footsteps of his destiny, leaving North Side to attend the college of his choice. With a GPA of 3.38, for the class of 2023. This young man reminds me of what a person can accomplish with character and commitment. Marcus has supported the North Side football program since being a freshman. While he attended Marine Creek Collegiate High School that believes, “Students will be provided a compass to aid them in their journey while anchoring them in their values to help them navigate the seas of life.” Marcus has accomplished the foundational portion of his journey. Great things are expected from this young man.
