We are in the final few days of school. Thanks for all your help and support through the year. We've been through quite a bit managing the pandemic and the first full year of in person learning for a while, but we have a great community and we have been able to persevere. That said, we are short staffed every single day. Teachers are constantly covering each others' classes, and many of our support positions are simply left unfilled. For this reason, in order to end the year as smoothly as possible, we may have disruptive students not attend the final day (or days) so that we can focus on getting the year wrapped up successfully without managing students causing disruptive or unsafe situations. This includes students who are skipping classes as it takes a lot of time and resources to find kids who are not in the correct place. Again, thank you for your support as we do all we can to finish the year on a positive note!

Finally, I'd like to give a heartfelt thank-you to the community. As someone who lives in this neighborhood, I care deeply about the students, staff, and families of South Meadows. I know that the school will be in good hands with Mr. Benz and the SMMS staff. Thank you for giving me such wonderful memories from my time as principal! While I do look forward to my new role with the city of Hillsboro, I will always cherish my time in the Hillsboro School District. Now let's finish this year strong!

June 9th, our 8th graders will be sharing their work on creating a unique business. Each student has been designing a food truck business plan. To celebrate, we'll have a food truck or two come at 5:00 for families to enjoy while they see our kids' creative work!

We will be doing a virtual talent show this year. If your student wants to participate, they can make a video of their talent and we'll all watch it together on the last day of school. We'll be sharing more information with the students in their advisory classes. Have your student talk to Mr. Welch to get their video included. Videos need to be turned in by June 10th.

Due to logistical concerns, we will not have a large event for 8th grade promotion. Students will get certificates with different seals of accomplishment during the school day on June 15th. After school, from 4:00 to 6:00 that day (June 15th), 8th graders are welcome to come take pictures in front of the school. We'll have staff available with some photo props. There will be a Kona Ice truck for refreshments!

It is very important that all 8th graders turn in their Chromebooks and chargers in on June 15th. 7th graders can keep their Chromebooks over the summer if they want to. 8th graders can pick up their new Chromebook from their high school.

Yearbooks will be passed out on June 15th. Anyone that can't attend that day can pick up their yearbook from the office.

The last day of school is June 16th. It is a half-day and students will release at 12:15. Lunch and breakfast will still be provided. During the day, we will be having a fun activity day where students can play games, dance, jump in bounce houses, and celebrate the end of the school year. Good behavior in the final days before this event is required for attendance.

Hello! South Meadows is excited to share information about our plans for summer camp this year. We will offer a summer camp from August 1-12, Monday through Friday, from 9am-11:45am. Back to School night for the 22/23 school year will be at 5:30 on September 1st.

Estamos en los últimos días de clases. Gracias por toda su ayuda y apoyo durante todo el año. Hemos pasado bastante tiempo manejando la pandemia y el primer año completo de aprendizaje en persona, pero tenemos una gran comunidad y hemos podido perseverar. Dicho esto, tenemos poco personal todos los días. Los maestros están constantemente cubriendo las clases de los demás, y muchos de nuestros puestos de apoyo simplemente quedan vacantes. Por esta razón, para terminar el año de la mejor manera posible, es posible que los estudiantes disruptivos no asistan el último día (o días) para que podamos concentrarnos en terminar el año con éxito sin controlar a los estudiantes que causan situaciones disruptivas o inseguras. Esto incluye a los estudiantes que faltan a clases, ya que se necesita mucho tiempo y recursos para encontrar a los niños que no están en el lugar correcto. Una vez más, ¡gracias por su apoyo mientras hacemos todo lo posible para terminar el año con una nota positiva!

Finalmente, me gustaría dar las gracias de todo corazón a la comunidad. Como alguien que vive en este vecindario, me preocupo profundamente por los estudiantes, el personal y las familias de South Meadows. Sé que la escuela estará en buenas manos con el Sr. Benz y el personal de SMMS. ¡Gracias por darme recuerdos tan maravillosos de mi época como directora!
