Jackrabbit Journal
October 2020/ Octubre 2020
FROM MRS. FRANK
Jackrabbit Families,
Thank you for a wonderful first 6 weeks of learning. It has been a little different but it is wonderful to have our students back to learning. Thank you for supporting our teachers by having your child learn at home on November 3rd. We are a polling location and we expect a lot of voters on this day. Safety is always our number one concern so it will be safer to have kids learning from home that day. The other online learning days are: 11/3, 12/11, 1/15, 2/12, 3/12, 4/12, and 5/17. This extra time will be so valuable for your teachers to get prepared for upcoming learning. Thank you! Amy Frank
Remote Learning Days Plan:
On-Campus Learning students (who will be learning from home on these days) will:
- Receive paper packets and assignments to be completed and turned in.
- Not need devices (Chromebooks, laptops, internet) in order to complete the assignments.
- Have attendance taken by showing evidence of completing assignments.
CFISD Connect students (who will remain at home) will:
- Learn through pre-recorded lessons and posted assignments.
- Not have check-ins by their teachers or participate in live instruction.
- Have attendance taken by showing evidence of completing assignments and/or logging into Schoology.
Parents, thank you for your support this year and the grace you have afforded our campus principals, administration, and especially our teachers, who have learned an entirely new mode of instruction. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to make changes that we believe will have a positive impact on both our students and staff.
Please contact your campus directly if there is a need to request on-campus learning at school for a student in pre-K through 8th grade on these designated remote learning days from home.
• No necesitarán dispositivos electrónicos (Chromebooks, computadoras portátiles, internet)
NOTES FROM THE CLINIC
On-Campus Students: Parents must screen students daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for the following signs and symptoms of COVID-19:
1. Are you experiencing any of the following in a way that is not normal to you?
• Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.00 F
• Loss of taste or smell
• Cough
• Difficulty breathing
• Shortness of breath
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Chills
• Sore throat
• Congestion or runny nose
• Shaking or exaggerated shivering
• Significant muscle pain or ache
• Diarrhea
• Nausea or vomiting
DO NOT MEDICATE CHILDREN TO COVER THE SYMPTOMS AND SEND THEM TO SCHOOL, KEEP THEM HOME.
2. Have you had known close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
Students must stay home if they answer “yes” to any of the above. Any student who tests positive for COVID-19 and has been on campus for class or an extracurricular activity must report the test results to the campus nurse. Campuses will send all staff and students notification when a student or staff member is confirmed with COVID-19.
3. All medication must be brought to the clinic and pick up by a parent/guardian. Children are not to carry any medication to include cough drops.
Medical Action Plans are required for students with allergies requiring medication such as Benadryl and/or EpiPen, student’s with asthma requiring inhalers, and students that have been diagnosed with seizures.
4. Make sure your child is up to date with all recommended vaccines, including for flu. All school-aged children should get an influenza flu vaccine every season, with rare exceptions. This is especially important this year because we do not yet know if being sick with COVID-19 at the same time as the flu will result in more severe illness.
The following guidance from the Department of State Health Services:
At this time, 2020-2021 school vaccine requirements are in effect. If anything changes regarding vaccine requirements, DSHS will issue a statement. A student shall show acceptable evidence of vaccination prior to entry, attendance (includes online), or transfer to a child-care facility or public or private elementary or secondary school in Texas.
Please call or email Nurse Garcia with any updates, questions, or to schedule a time to drop off medications or vaccination records.
