Letter from the Principal
12/18/2020
Hello Sundling Families,
I hope this communication finds you well as we wrap up the month of December and the 2020 portion of our school year. Our students will be completing the 2nd quarter of school today, Friday, December 18th. This will be followed by an extended two week winter break, with school resuming again on Tuesday, January 5th. Be on the lookout, 2nd Quarter Progress Reports will be made available for students and parents on Friday, January 8th.
Thank you to the amazing Sundling Staff and Community for working together to fill 4+ boxes with new toys for the Palatine 2020 Toys for Tots campaign. I was so pleased and grateful to have seen this type of support even during a pandemic, and not having students in the building. Absolutely amazing, and speaks volumes about the care within our community. (See picture below)
Don’t forget to support our WRS PTA. You can support our school when you purchase items using Amazon Smile with the following link: http://smile.amazon.com/ch/36-3607511.
Thank you for your continued support of our staff and students! It has been a great first half of the school year, and I look forward to the work ahead in 2021. I hope that you have a safe and enjoyable winter break with your family and friends. See you next year.

A few reminders:
1) Please be sure that your child leaves the house with the self-certification lanyard around their neck. The card inside the plastic sleeve needs to be signed and dated by a parent/guardian each morning, following self-certifcation at home. This will ensure quick access into the building following a secondary temperature check. If the self-certifcation lanyard or card is ever forgotten, lost, or damaged; we will provide a new one when the student comes to school. * If your child does not have the self-certification card and lanyard, WE will provide at the front doors, when they check in.
2) Be sure that the Chromebook is charged each night and ready for learning the next day. It would not be a bad idea to bring the charger to school each day, keeping it in the backpack, just in case it is needed. Headphones or earbuds are also highly recommended.
3) Masks need to be worn at all times except during lunch. Mask breaks may be scheduled by the teacher in an open area or outside. It is recommended that students come to school with extra masks.
4) Students will be allowed to enter the building starting at 7:35 AM. Students will enter through two different doors, and report directly to 1st period following self-certification or temperature checks:.
Door 1 (Front Entrance)- Buses/Bike riders
Door 2 (Circle Drive) - Parent Drop Off/Walkers/ Bike riders
Adults will be at each door to help direct students and signs will be posted to assist students.
5) Hallway and PE lockers will not be used this year. Students will bring backpacks and jackets to each classroom throughout the day. Students will not change for PE.
Thank you!
5Essentials Survey- Coming Soon
WRS Little Library
We want to continue to encourage our students to read while at home, and provide opportunities to get copies of today's top books and authors!
Use of Cameras and School Issued Devices
Parents, please strongly encourage your child to leave their camera on during class time. We have collected data, and when cameras are on during classes, students are much more engaged and student collaboration is increased. We will continue to remain flexible and understanding, and provide students support to embrace everyone's social emotional well being.
We also ask that students continue to use the district provided Chromebook when attending classes throughout the school day. If you are experiencing issues with your Chromebook or wfifi connection with this device, please contact the school for additional support.
We truly appreciate your support at home!

Covid 19 seems to be touching everyone’s lives in some way despite our best efforts to control the spread of the disease. When someone in your family gets positive test results, it can be a confusing and anxiety provoking event. CCSD15 has provided excellent training to all of the school nurses and we are available to help you out with information or advice about protecting your family during this second phase of the pandemic.
