BECS Families:

We are nearing the end of the first learning cycle! As a reminder, we have a break from September 21-25. During this time, the building will be closed for deep cleaning and to prepare for the return of students and staff on Monday, September 28. We hope this week break provides BECS families with some much needed rest and relaxation.

Learning Cycle 2 Materials Exchange (Remote Students Only)

On Tuesday, September 15th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM students who are remote for Learning Cycle 2 will need to pick up additional materials needed for LC 2 and return materials from LC 1 that are no longer needed. Click HERE for more information.


BECS will be closed September 21st - 25th for our six-week Learning Cycle change. This extended period of time will allow our custodial staff to provide the entire building with a deep clean to ensure when students return on September 28th the building will be sanitized and prepared for our second Learning Cycle to begin.

Spirit Week!

We are excited to announce that our first spirit week of the year will be held Monday, September 28th to Friday, October 2nd. Please view our BECS Fall Spirit Week Flyer for full details. We are looking forward to seeing our students’ creativity and school spirit.



BECS will begin conducting the district assessment, FastBridge for all students in grades K-8. Please see the BECS 2020-21 Assessment Schedule for updated assessments and dates. For our virtual learners, please review the following BECS Families Helping Students with FastBridge video that provides more information about how FastBridge will be completed from home. In addition, teachers will be sending home more specific step by step instructions prior to testing. Please contact Ms. Cindy Hirst via email for more information.

Parent and cold weather drop off


  • At the front entrance (Zone 1), due to safety concerns, you will be assigned a lane. To exit, if it is a single lane rotation, you can exit either direction. If it is a double lane rotation, you will exit the direction of your assigned lane.
  • Middle School students should be in their class line by 8:20 am.
  • 1st Grade - there is a sidewalk a little further (east) down from the hill. Students can walk on that, instead of the hill, to meet up with their teacher.

Will there be a yearbook this year? ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Although our school year looks a little bit different, we are committed to providing BECS' families with their annual memory book. With that being said, we still need all the content we can get! This includes school-appropriate activities at home, outside of the home, in school, while doing school work, on the computer, whatever it is that your child is doing for school, we would love to showcase in the yearbook.

We also want to let you know that while the Yearbook team would LOVE to include ALL the photos that are submitted, there are only so many slots allotted where photos can go, so, unfortunately, some photos that are submitted may not be included. Please send photos to our Yearbook Team at, be sure to include the student's name, grade and what the student was doing in the photo. Thank you so much for your support and for being a part of the BECS family!



  • Washington D.C. (October and January) has been cancelled. Families have received communication from Mrs. Tulk outlining next steps through EF Travel.

  • Sea Camp (8th grade) which typically takes place in February has been cancelled this year.

  • Europe (March 2021), Outdoor Ed- 6th grade (April 21 - 23, 2021), and Costa Rica (June 2021) will continue to be evaluated. A determination surrounding these trips will be made closer to their scheduled dates. Stay tuned for more information.


If your student did not receive their packet this week they should be arriving soon. It has come to our attention some of our in-person learners were not in attendance on August 17th or 18th for the first photo sessions of the year, or there was an issue with the photo. They will have an opportunity on October 16th during picture retakes to get their photos taken and ID's created. If you ordered pictures and are not happy with how they turned out please bring your photos on October 16th and you may have them re-taken. Online students will be located in the small gym October 16th while in-person learners will be located in the cafeteria. There will be more details to come as remote learners will be sent a sign-up genius for their picture day to allow for appropriate social distancing.
