The Wilson Way
ACE-ing our way through the school year
Principal's Message
Friday, February 9th
I want to begin by saying, THANK YOU! Our school wide APEX fundraiser raised $14,440 for our campus thanks to the efforts of our students and PTA members. We know we set a lofty goal but this is incredible! A HUGE shoutout to our PTA and the parent volunteers who came to help with the APEX games - we appreciate you! We will begin working with our PTA to purchase the items we were fundraising for. Stay tuned!
I hope you're ready for the Super Bowl! Our students had a great time wearing jerseys to represent their team or wearing Red, White, and Blue for the sacrifice of our NISD alumnus, Navy SEAL Gage Ingram, who lost his life for his country. Many of our Chiefs fans were happy to wear red for Gage too. Check out our social media pages on Super Bowl Sunday for pics!
Here's what's coming this week:
Tuesday, Feb. 13th is 5th Grade Showcase and Open House. While this evening is geared for incoming 5th graders, current 6th and 7th graders will have the opportunity to come if they are considering moving into a performing art elective, athletics, or into an Honor class. PTA will be available and will be giving prizes. Incoming 5th graders will be eligible to win a prize too!
Wednesday, February 14th is Valentine's Day. We love to be in love but I'm asking that NO Valentines are delivered to the school on this day. Our front desk is the first line of defense for school safety and we want to make sure they are not inundated with deliveries. Deliveries are reserved for teachers from their spouses, as it is their place of business. We are A-OK with students bringing Valentines for friends or gifts they'd like to show off from their families, but please know that student deliveries will be turned away. Thank you for your understanding.
Thursday, February 15th is 80's Day! Students can dress in 80s attire OR in their best 80 year old attire. Hey, I went to high school in the 80s so I'm done with that. I'm going to dress in my future attire "80s Era". haha
Friday, February 16th is a Pep Rally Day! We will host a pep rally at the end of the day to celebrate the great seasons of our basketball and tennis teams and give shoutouts to our upcoming team events. It's going to be a fun time!
Wrapping It Up:
Don't forget that we are off on Monday, February 19th for President's Day! We will be excited to see our students back for a short week following. Before we know it, February will be over. Wow!

Truett Wilson Middle School has three dances each year: a Halloween (Fall Dance), a Valentines Dance, and an End of Year Dance. The students have a great time dancing, hanging out with friends, playing games in the gym, taking pictures, and buying concessions! All students must have their affairs in order (fees and fines paid) in order to attend any dances. While dances are great social events, preparing for them teaches responsibility as well.

Memorial Service at NISD Stadium
The family of U.S. Navy SEAL and Byron Nelson High School alumnus Nathan Gage Ingram will host a memorial service in remembrance of his life beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10, at Northwest ISD Stadium, with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. Family and friends invite members of the public to join the celebration of SO2 Ingram’s life at the memorial, which will be supported by the U.S. Navy.
While the family invites public attendance to honor SO2 Ingram, please be aware that the use of electronic devices will be strictly prohibited during the event. Additionally, the event will use the district standard clear bag requirements in effect at varsity football games. Clear totes and small clutches meeting this requirement will be the only bags allowed in the stadium. Attendees are welcome to bring clear bottled water, but no other food or drink is permitted. Read more details about the event in this news article.
NISD Food Pantry
The Northwest ISD monthly Mobile Food Pantry is changing locations and implementing a drive-thru service. Beginning on February 17, the monthly food pantry will move to the district’s temporary administration building, located at 2051 Texan Drive in Justin. This is located next door to the previous location, which is now a construction zone.
Attendees should enter Texan Drive from F.M. 156 (rather than S.H. 114), as traffic will not be allowed to turn left from Texan Drive into the food pantry location. For more information, read this news article.
EXPO 2024
Northwest ISD's EXPO showcase annually celebrates future-ready learning by involving fellow students, teachers and the community in an exhibition of Northwest ISD’s innovative and inspiring educational opportunities. The event gives students the chance to shine as they fine tune their presentation skills and communicate their innovative ideas in a variety of ways. Wilson MS has 10 presentations!
Please join us as we celebrate our student achievements on February 29, at Byron Nelson High School, located at 2775 Bobcat Boulevard in Trophy Club. For additional information, visit the EXPO website.
Teacher Interview Fair
Northwest ISD will host a teacher interview fair from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, where quality teacher applicants can attend an event to meet district administrators and have interviews.
Because this is an invitation-only event, interested individuals must complete an employment application and apply to the interview fair at this link. Qualified candidates will receive additional information and details.
The Big Event (it's real)
The Big Event is the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation and it will take place this year on Saturday, April 27 with Byron Nelson High School hosting the kickoff!
If you have a job student volunteers can help with, a Job Request form will be available soon. Students are willing to help with jobs around the house, weeding, mowing, painting, gardening, tree-trimming and general clean outs! Check out this News Article.
