Letter from Mrs. Trent, Principal

Welcome to the 2019/20 School Year!

As we embark on a new school year, we anticipate the journey of learning and where it will take us. We have had a spectacular start and our students are settled into their classrooms while being engaged in academics and the arts.

We would like to welcome our new families to Edison Park and invite you to join us on this year’s expedition. We plan to cultivate the learning of ALL children and ensure a safe learning environment so success will be achieved! “The real learning starts when one crosses borders and travels miles for real knowledge”.

“Adventure is the best place to learn. Travel is more than the seeing of sights. It is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of the living (Miriam Beard)”. We look forward to partnering with you as we take our learning to places beyond our wildest imaginations!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Trent

The 2019-2020 School Theme is "Learning Takes You Places!"

Support the Arts

Theatre Department: Donations Needed

We are excited to add sets to our student performances! Mrs. McCullers, theatre teacher, has created a "Scene Shop" in order to incorporate larger-scale sets and props into the shows. Supplies in the theatre "wish list" range from $2-$100. Do you have extra interior or exterior paint at your home? The theatre department would also appreciate donations of extra cans of paint for set designs. Please use the link below to access the theatre supply wish list. For those accessing the account on paper newsletters, please go to "myregistry.com" and search for "Edison Park". Thank you for your support!

Music Department: Keyboard Donation Needed

Mrs. Yorty, Music teacher, is seeking a keyboard for performances. The keyboard will be used to enhance student performances and will be used at community events. Mrs. Yorty is looking for a used or new keyboard that has special effects, piano, and orchestra sounds. She is seeking one with 88 keys, a storage case, and stand so that it can be easily transported. If you have a keyboard donation, please contact Mrs. Yorty via email- DorothyJY@leeschools.net.

Dance Shoes

Dance teacher, Ms. Peters, would like to send a friendly reminder to always bring dance shoes to class. Being prepared for class provides the best experience for students and protects the dance studio floors. Gently used dance shoes are available for purchase from Ms. Peters if needed. Thank you!

Theatre Etiquette

We are proud to host monthly performances in our historic theatre. We ask that all guests review the theatre etiquette followed at Edison Park.

  • Food or drinks are not allowed in the theatre.
  • Please turn off or silence all phones and electronic devices.
  • All non-performing children/students must be supervised by and remain with an adult before, during and after the performance.

  • If a younger child is with you in the audience and becomes restless or upset, please take them into the foyer.
  • Please applaud, laugh and respond appropriately and avoid yelling out or shouting names, words or phrases.
  • Please avoid waving or gesturing to performers.
  • If you are going to take video or photographs of the performance, please do so from the sides of the theatre, being careful not to block the view of others or the aisles.

  • If you have to leave during a performance, please exit between scenes, selections or songs to minimize distraction

Student Recognition

Spotlight Students & CORE 4 Students of the Week

One student from each class is selected as a "Spotlight Student of the Week". These students are featured on the school news, social media, and the cafeteria bulletin board. Their "All About Me" poster is hung outside their classroom door and they are treated extra special throughout the week.

During Quarter 1, all students earning 75% or more of their weekly behavior points have an opportunity to be selected as the "CORE 4 Student of the Week". Eligible names are placed in a "hat" and are selected by pulling one name per class. These students have their names read on the school news. Students earn a gift certificate and are celebrated for demonstrating positive behavior in school.
