What a beautiful celebration!

On 12/14, the entire 610 Henry Community turned out to cheer on our seniors, lining the perimeter of our building, waving posters and pom-poms, congratulating our seniors for having applied to college! Our underclassmen and our Cheer Team honored our seniors at this morning's pep rally and waved posters celebrating the seniors' success. Guest speakers, including Zac Martin (Exec Director of Trellis) and our six crew speakers (Jaylah R, David H, Amya W, Romario R, Tanjin A, Destiny M) offered helpful advice and appreciations to the Class of 2019! This year, we were also joined by staff and students from three NYC Outward Bound middle schools (MS 839, West End Secondary School, and Launch Middle School).

VIP Escort through Carroll Gardens and Red Hook!

After marching around the school's perimeter, seniors then marched through Carroll Gardens (applauded by local residents and business owners). Our seniors marched with a VIP escort by the 76th Pct - stopping traffic for our seniors as we made our way through the community!

So proud of you, Class of 2019!

Seniors slowly made their way to the Red Hook Post Office. Seniors mailed a letter symbolizing their college bound journey (including scholarship/college applications, thank you notes, financial aid information, etc.), all stamped with a special 2019 College March seal specially developed by the US Postal Service. There was a lot of fanfare at the Post Office! We had additional speeches from Monica Scott (Capital One), Jordan Rufus (BCS Class of 2013), and Melissa de Valle Ortiz (Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez's Office)!

Students then marched back through the community to the gym where we had an afternoon of food and dancing to honor the Class of 2019! What a celebration for our entire Brooklyn Collaborative community!
