Dr. Seuss Week
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
This week we read a different Dr. Seuss story every day and completed some fun activities to go along with each story. At the end of the week we had a pajama day and watched Horton Hears A Who. The students also shared their favorite Dr. Seuss stories with the class.
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
Crazy Animals
The students created an animal, thought up an action that it could do, then gave it a name that rhymed with the action.
Comparison
The students used a vent diagram to show the likes and differences between a person and a fish.
Sort and Graph
The students sorted and graphed colored gold fish.
Sorting
The students sorted animals by the amount of legs they have.
Fish Knock Out
The students rolled dice to try and knock out the different numbered fish.
Fish bowls
The students painted blue tinted corn syrup on a fish bowl cut out, then added gold fish, pasta, and ribbon to make a scene in the bowl.
Green Eggs and Ham
The students wrote about a food they like and one they do not like. After reading the story we made a list of rhymes from words we found in the story. The students then wrote about where they would eat green eggs and ham using the rhymes.
The Cat in the Hat
Prior to reading the students made a list of things they could do on a rainy day. After reading the story the students wrote about what they would tell their mother if the cat and the hat visited them. Then they wrote about what they would do with the cat in the hat.
